_ The 2018 Farming For A Cure For Lupus:
Charlotte Sr FFA and Alumni are proud to present our 1st Annual "Farming For A Cure For Lupus" 5K that will take place in beautiful downtown Punta Gorda, Florida on Janusry 13th, 2018. One of our members was diagnosed with SLE (Lupus) when she was 15 years old. She is now 17 but struggles daily with this disease. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to donate to the University of Florida to go towards Lupus research. We want to find a cure!!!
Event details and schedule
Our runners will begin the course at 8 am. Our walkers will begin at 9 am.
Laishley Park has a course designed for a 5K that is already mapped out. If you make it around the course twice, you just finished your 5K!!!
Please arrive in plenty of time to register for the event, pick up your registration packets, or just take in the wonderful music and events that will be taking place througout the park. Please keep in mind that this is our first event and we may be slightly slower at this process during this time.
There is ample parking in downtown Punta Gorda. Within walking distance from the park is the County Court House that we can use as well as the Parking garage a few blocks away.
YOU MUST PROVIDE A SIGNED WAIVER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE! All participants must have a signed waiver in order to allow you to pick up your packets. Refusal of providing the waiver will not only keep you from participatiung, but you will not be refunded your entry fee.
Please bring water and extra cash to spend on the fun activities that we will have going on through the park.
Wear comfortable clothes and make sure you check the weather to see what the temperature will be that day.
We will be having music, games, food and auctions the day of the event. So please come and support our cause and help us to raise money to find a cure for Lupus!
