Description

The 8th annual Race to the Heights 5k is an event that provides an encouraging atmosphere that moves the community to engage in a challenging activity together. This year, we will offer both a trail and a road race. Both courses will take place at the Grants Mill campus of Church of the Highlands.

The road course starts at the North Entrance of the parking lot and is both pet and stroller friendly, so bring the whole family to participate! The scenic trail course traverses the woods behind the church building and is designed to challenge more experienced runners. The road course is certified by USA Track & Field.

We will have dri-fit race shirts, prizes for the top finishers in each category, and we’ll do drawings for some awesome door prizes as well.

 Who Benefits

All of the proceeds from this year’s Race to the Heights will go to Grace House, Trafficking Hope, Christ Health Center, Birmingham Dream Center, Lifeline Children’s Services, and ARC, who are all doing incredible work to minister to those who need it most.

Grace House Ministries – Imagine hurt young women transformed by the love and life of Jesus. Grace House, in Fairfield, AL, ministers to girls age 6-21 who have been abused and/or neglected and removed from the custody of their parents or families. They educate, equip, empower, and break the cycle of abuse and social dependency. To learn more, visit here: Grace House.

Trafficking Hope – Launched in 2007, Trafficking Hope works to eradicate the sex trade and help empower local churches and organizations to join the fight against modern slavery. Find out more at: Trafficking Hope.

Christ Health Center – More than simply seeing the sick made well, Christ Health Center strives to see the well-made whole, and to see each patient living life abundantly. They offer the very best in primary care, dental services, and professional counseling as well as mediation therapy management through an on-site pharmacy. Visit the Christ Health Center page for more info.

Birmingham Dream Center — As the nucleus of Church of the Highlands’ outreach ministry, the Dream Center partners with neighborhood organizations in urban Birmingham to share the love of Christ with local communities by serving both practically and spiritually. Visit the Dream Center page to learn more.

Lifeline Children’s Services — There are over 153 million orphaned children in the world today. Lifeline works to match these children with families who will love and lead them well. They resource, train, and encourage the families who are living out the call found in James 1:27. Learn more at Lifeline Child.

The Association of Related Churches – ARC works with church planters and leaders to provide support, resources, and guidance to launch and grow life-giving churches. Find out more at ARC.
