The original Las Vegas Turkey Trot that Mountain Man Events has brought to you since 2007 will now be produced by BBSC Running. 

Featuring a 12K, 5K and 1 Mile stroll that take place completely inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, this Turkey Trot will remain on the packed-dirt of the Historic Railroad Trail. Join more than one thousand other trotters on Thanksgiving morning on an epic run through the Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam.

Event details and schedule

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is 18 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Tired of the racing without views? Then try this race course! Run is out and back on old railroad track long since removed and now part of the Rail-to-Trails Conservancy and the National Park Service. Run all the way to the Hoover Dam overlook. You will be overlooking Lake Mead for entire event for some pretty spectacular views.

Route is on newly packed and maintained trails (50%) and paved trails (50%). No steep climbs here, but there are gradual "grades" that were once used to haul supplies to Hoover Dam during the early thirties. Entire elevation gain is 497 feet.  On the way to Hoover Dam, runners pass through six (6) tunnels on this course in each direction. Turnaround is located on the top level of the new parking lot with great views of both Hoover Dam and the new Colorado River Bridge. This is a spectator friendly event, so bring your family. There is no vehicular traffic on this course, so breath easy and let your legs carry you for miles on this beautiful and historic course.
