Get set for a fun day of fitness with a Christmas flair. The Second- Annual Candy Cane 5K is returning to the Daytona Beach area!

The Chuck Strasser Memorial Candy Cane 5K will offer a fun way to stay fit, meet friends and raise money to benefit those in need. Christmas-themed costumes are welcome — prizes will be awarded! Run or walk with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors or classmates as you have fun and spread Christmas cheer.

It’s all about giving back
The event is a memorial fundraiser to continue the work of the late Chuck Strasser. Chuck was a much-loved member of the Daytona Beach-area community who passed away Jan. 1, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a dedicated husband, father, businessman and friend to all, whose contagious smile and habit of sacrificing his time and money for those in need made him an example and mentor to all.

Chuck’s wife, Gina, and daughters Faith and Destiny are leading the effort to keep his work going with the 5K. With the help of Tomoka Christian Church and Runner's High Timing and Race Management, the Strassers hope to leave a lasting legacy honoring Chuck’s vision to help children not just in Volusia County but all over the world. Please join them in partnership. Not everyone is able to go on Missions, but here's how your money made a difference in the lives of so many.   Last year with your help, half the funds raised went to help place children in adoptive homes right here in Volusia County.  The other half helped  fund missions, locally, across the US and world-wide. For instance, it helped build two new CarePoints in Okahandja, Namibia where they can now care for 100 more children affected by the AIDS epidemic.  It's helping sponsor 2 kids for the entire school year at the American Indian Christian Mission in Show Low, Arizona.  We helped pay for materials to build a new activity center for Pinehaven Children's Christian Ranch in Montana. In addition,  your money purchased bedding, tables and chairs for a new Ninos De Mexico Orphanage in San Vicente, Chicoloapan... and  much much more!  Thank you 2016 Sponsors and race participants!!

Packet Pickup will be held at Tomoka Christian Church on Friday, December 15th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
