Compete in each of the three Arkansas XTERRA races. The female and male with the best combined time will be crowned the XTERRA Arkansas Triple Crown Champions!
Triathlon Course Description
SWIM .5 mile
The swim will take place in the cool clear waters of Lake Leatherwood. The route is in the shape of a large triangle. Swimmers will start and finish on the beach near the swimming area, swimming in a counter-clockwise direction. The water temperature in early June is typically above the 78 degree wetsuit cut-off.
The transition from swim to bike will consist of a flat 200 yard run on grass to the central transition area.
MOUNTAIN BIKE 13 miles
The trails are a mixture of single and double track are semi-technical and include challenging rocky terrain, steep climbs, and several fun and fast descents. See map and detailed route description below.
The transition from bike to run will take place at the central transition area. Same area where the swim to bike transition takes place.
TRIATHLON RUN 5 miles
The trail run takes place on the trails within the boundaries of the park. The course will primarily follow the Miner's Rock Trail which contours around the mountains on the west side of the park. There are two tough climbs on this route. See map and detailed route description below.
Trail Run 5 miles
The trail run is a separate event from the triathlon and provides an off-road option that is less committing than the full triathlon. The 5 mile course will trace most of the first lap of the mountain bike course, marked on the bike course map below. We expect all racers to finish before the start of the triathlon.
From Eureka Springs take Hwy 62 West for 2 miles. Turn right at the Lake Leatherwood sign at the park entrance.
From Rogers AR take I-540 to the Hwy 62 Exit - exit #86. Take Hwy 62 East for approximately 32 miles. Turn left at the Lake Leatherwood sign at the park entrance.
