_ The 2018 CASA Superhero Run:

The 2018 CASA Superhero Run, happening Saturday, April 7th at The Park at Riverwalk, will feature masked and caped runners, a superhero costume contest, villains to chase, incredible photo opportunities, obstacle courses to test super strength, family-friendly activities, tasty treats and so much more!
The CASA Superhero Run supports CASA of Kern County, a non-profit that recruits and trains volunteers to advocate on the behalf of abused and neglected foster children in Kern County.

All children need a hero, abused children need a superhero!

Event details and schedule

Schedule of Events on Race Day:

Check-in/ Registration 7:00 A.M. – 8:00 A.M.

Mascot Race at 7:45 A.M.

Media Race at 8:00 A.M.

10K Starts at 8:05 A.M.

5K Starts at 8:15 A.M.

2K Starts at 8:30 A.M.

Awards Immediately following the end of the races.

Costume contest winners will be announced at 9:30 am

7:00A.M. -12:00 P.M. Vendors, activities for the kids, and entertainment.

 Each runner will receive the following:

·         A shirt or cape that every Superhero or Villain would be proud to wear!

·         Fancy competitor bib number for the front of your shirt.

      The first 300 adults and 200 kids that pick up their T-shirt/bib packets at the CASA offices prior to the race on 4/5 or 4/6 will receive a superhero goodie bag filled with sponsor giveaways and coupons!        

Prize Categories 

Award categories for the 10K and 5K will be as follows (2K runners are not timed):

Top Overall Male Finisher in 10K and 5K

Top Overall Female Finisher in 10K and 5K

Top Three Male Finishers in Each Age Group (0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)

Top Three Female Finishers in Each Age Group (0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)

Vendors and Activities 

 Costume Contest

To enter the 2018 Costume Contest, sign up on event day. The costume contests will open at 7:00 am and close at approximately 8:30 am when 2K starts. The costume contests will offer prizes for the following categories:

Adults*

• Traditional Superhero
• Invented Superhero

Kids*

• Traditional Superhero Girl
• Invented Superhero Girl
• Traditional Superhero Boy
• Invented Superhero Boy
• Super Baby

Groups & Pets

• Super Group
• Super Dog

*Traditional = Known character like Superman or Wonder Woman. Invented = New superhero you create. 

 Course Info 

The 10K and 5K course will start at the inflatable START arch provided by Central Valley Timing on the asphalt trail. The 10K will follow the asphalt trail for 3.1 miles (half of 6.2 miles) then turn around and return to start line. 

The 5K will follow the asphalt trail for 1.55 miles (half of 3.1 miles) then turn around and return to the start line. 

The 2K starts at the balloon arch located near the river. The course is a loop around the river through the park and back through the arch.
