_ The 2018 Tarantula 5K:

The University of Georgia Insect Zoo is hosting its second Ta-ran-tula 5k run on the beautiful trails of The State Botanical Garden of Georgia. After the race everyone will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite furry friends…tarantulas! 

Event details and schedule

Saturday : April 21, 2017 : 9:00am : The State Botanical Garden of Georgia : Athens, Ga 

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup will start at 8:00 am

5k: Starts at 9:00 am 

Awards: Awards for The top 3 Overall winners (Male and Female) and  

The top three finishers in each of the below age categories (Male and Female)  

(9&Under 10-14 15-19 20-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49 50-54 55-59 60-64 65-69 70&Up)

Shirts: Shirts are guaranteed to those who register by April 9, 2018.  If you register after this date shirts and sizes will be on a first-come, first-served basis at Packet Pickup.

Last year we ran out so make sure to sign up by the deadline!

Timing and Results: Timing services provided by Athens Running Company 

Packet Pickup: 

Friday April 20, 2018 -- 2pm - 6pm

(Race Day) Saturday April 21 starting at 8:00 am at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia 

Weather:  Race will happen rain or shine. There may be a delay of the start in case of severe weather in the area. If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may cancel the race at that time. Due to being a trail run, if there is substantial rain prior to the race, the course may be subject to change. There will be no refunds.
