_ The 2018 Fayette Medical Center 5k and Fun Run:

The Fayette Medical Center 5K and Fun Run takes place Saturday, March 10, in Fayette, Ala., starting at the hospital. The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., with the Fun Run at 8:45 a.m.

The event was created to highlight National Nutrition Month and promote wellness in the community. It has raised over $16,000 the last 2 years to benefit FMC's volunteer auxiliary and provide local student scholarships.

Fayette Medical Center focuses on a fun atmosphere at the event! Participants are encouraged to dress creatively for the fun run, plus registration includes a Fun Run packet with a white T-shirt, sunglasses and tattoos. Special awards for the Fun Run will be presented at the awards ceremony too.

Event registration takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. on race day in front of the helicopter pad parking area. Runners for the 5K and Fun Run may also register in advance at active.com Opens a New Window. .

The 5K and Fun Run costs $25, which includes a goody bag and T-shirt for the first 125 registrants. Proceeds will support the FMC Volunteer Auxiliary and scholarships for local students.
