_ The 12th Annual Fountain Valley Triathlon/5K Walk & Run:

We are looking forward to another fantastic Triathlon/5K Walk & Run/Kids Triathlon this coming Memorial Day weekend, and we want to invite you to REGISTER NOW!!! The 12th Annual 2018 Fountain Valley Triathlon/5K Walk & Run will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

As in previous years, this is a great event for the entire family with a fun Adult Triathlon course, our 5K Walk/Run and FOUR categories for the kid triathlons! It is especially great for first time triathletes and 5K runners, although this event is a favorite for seasoned racers as well.

Remember, all proceeds go to support Boy Scout Troop 297 and youth summer camps. Register by MARCH 31st to get the early-bird registration discount! Prices increase April 1, 2018.

Adult Triathlon Route Overview

• Run: Fountain Valley High School vicinity (5K)
• Bike: Bike Route is an open course, meaning no road closures. Riders are to obey all traffic laws. (10 Miles)
• Swim: Fountain Valley High School (175 yards)

Leg Details (See maps on website: www.fvtriathlon.com)

• Run:
  • This run will be on the pavement.
  • There will be water stations every mile throughout the run.
• Bike:
  • ANSI-approved hard shell helmets are required – even on beach cruisers.
  • Must obey all traffic laws. If observed not obeying traffic laws the racer will be disqualified and not allowed to participate in future triathlons.
• Short Swim:
  • No fins, paddles, or propulsive device of any kind will be allowed. Participants must provide their own approved optional equipment (goggles, towel, etc).

5K Walk/Run

• Fountain Valley High School vicinity (Same as Adult Triathlon Route)

Kid Triathlons

Route information:

• All legs of the Kid Triathlons will be at Fountain Valley High School.  Check website for details. Course maps have been posted.

Junior Pee Wee Triathlon Ages 3-5 (Note: Ages are suggestions, if you as a parent feel your child is better suited for a category outside of their age bracket, we will leave that up to you. With that said, we ask that you as parents not move your child down in order for them to dominate the field. :)

• Run: 100 yards
• Bike: 250 yards (Training wheels, tricycles, big wheels, etc. are allowed)
• Swim: 25 yards (parental help is allowed)

Pee Wee Triathlon Ages 6-7  (Note: Ages are suggestions, if you as a parent feel your child is better suited for a category outside of their age bracket, we will leave that up to you. With that said, we ask that you as parents not move your child down in order for them to dominate the field. :)

• Run: 1/4 Mile
• Bike: 1/2 Mile (Training wheels, tricycles, big wheels, etc. are allowed)
• Swim: 25 yards (parental help is allowed)

Kid’s Triathlon: Ages 8-9 (Note: Ages are suggestions, if you as a parent feel your child is better suited for a category outside of their age bracket, we will leave that up to you. With that said, we ask that you as parents not move your child down in order for them to dominate the field. :)   

• Run: 1 Mile
• Bike: 1 Mile
• Swim: 75 Yards 

Big Kid’s Triathlon: Ages 10+ (Note: Ages are suggestions, if you as a parent feel your child is better suited for a category outside of their age bracket, we will leave that up to you. With that said, we ask that you as parents not move your child down in order for them to dominate the field. :)  

• Run: 1.5 Mile
• Bike: 1.5 Mile
• Swim: 75 Yards

Event details and schedule

Adult triathlon begins promptly at 7:00 AM

Kid Triathlons begin promptly after the conclusion of the adult triathlon at approximately 10:00 am in the following order:

• Junior Pee Wee triathlon
• Pee Wee triathlon
• Kid triathlon
• Big Kid triathlon

Packet pickup will be on Friday evening (5/25/18) at the Fountain Valley LDS Building from 5pm-8pm.
