_ The 8th Annual March For Meals 5K and Virtual 5K:
The Athens Community Council on Aging is partnering with the national March for Meals campaign by pledging to end senior hunger by 2020. Please join us for the 5K Run/Walk to help end senior hunger in Athens and to support the local Meals on Wheels program at ACCA!
Virtual Race Added: NO BLACK BAG POINTS FOR THE VIRTUAL RACES. By popular demand, you can run a virtual 5K this year. Run at your house, on a treadmill, in the park, and at your convenience any time before March 24, 2018. Virtual racers won’t receive overall awards or be placed in the results, but you will receive a bib number and t-shirt in the mail if signed up for that category. Please share your virtual race pictures with us with the hashtag #m4m2018.
Event details and schedule
Race day registration and packet pickup: Begins at 7AM
5K Race: Starts at 8AM
New Location: Race will start at Creature Comforts Brewing Co in Athens.
Awards: Awards will be given to Overall Male/Female and Overall Masters Male/Female. Age Group awards will be given 3 deep in standard age groups from 10 and under to 75 and over.
Timing and Results: Finish line and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted on www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.athlinks.com and www.coolrunning.com.
Shirts and Goodies: Shirts are guaranteed to those who register by 3/14/18. Those who register after that date and on race day will receive shirts while supplies last. There will be plenty of refreshments.
Series Affiliation: The races are part of the 2018 Black Bag Race Series
Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on. Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time. If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time. Sorry, no refunds.
