GREEN1In an effort to do our part for the environment, the Canes
Classic is moving towards becoming a GREEN event. What does this mean?
We are moving away from paper registration and encouraging online
registration by offering lower entry fees online. We will have recycling
at the race for plastic water bottles and we will be collecting old
running shoes and t-shirts to recycle at various local charities.SAFETY
GUIDELINES2Insurance does not cover the following, therefore they are
not allowed: headphones or radio headsets, strollers or baby joggers,
bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, & animals. NO STROLLERS OR BABY
JOGGERS - This is a cross country race with uneven terrain and narrow
trails.5K AWARDS3Overall, Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+), Senior
Grand Masters (60+), & Veteran Grand Masters (70+). Age group awards
through 3rd place in the following categories: 9 & under, 10-12,
13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59,
60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.1 MILE AWARDS4Overall female & male
(must be registered for 1 mile). Ribbons to all 1 Mile
finishers.SHIRTS5Unique designs every year make this a highly sought
after race shirt. Canes Classic shirts are guaranteed to all
pre-registered participants. We do run out every year on race day, so
PLEASE PRE-REGISTER! New in 2011: men's and women's sized cotton
tanks. Sizes guaranteed to those who sign up by August 23, 2011.POST
RACE6Baked goods, fruit, water, juice, and much more. Great door prizes
offered to our pre-registered participants, including running gear,
sunglasses, and other merchandise, restaurant gift certificates, and
running store gift cards.THE CAUSE7Proceeds help the Manatee HS XC team
to continue putting on this great race by way of better quality race
shirts, amenities, more giveaways & refreshments for you. A portion
of the proceeds benefit the team by helping cover the costs of
transportation to meets during the season, entry fees to meets,
uniforms, warm ups, etc. Last year we donated $250 to Save the Manatee
Club's Emergency Rescue Fund for manatee rescue & recovery from the
disastrous oil spill in the Gulf.REFUND POLICY8There are no refunds,
transfers or credits, as this is a fundraiser with proceeds being
distributed to non-profits. In addition, all the costs to put on the
event, which are substantial, have already been spent.
