_ The 7th Annual Washington Optimist 5K and Fun Run:

Join us for the 6th Annual Washington Optimist 5K Race and Fun Run. The race benefits local youth programs including scholarships to graduating seniors and continues our commitment to “bring out the best in kids”. Race begins at the Wilkes County Courthouse and runs through beautiful historic Washington, GA.

The Kids Fun Run uses the same starting line and laps the town square twice. The square is closed to all traffic during the Fun Run for the safety of our young racers. The Fun Run is open to adults who wish to run slow/walk with their children.

Event details and schedule

Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7AM

5K starts at 8:30AM

Fun Run starts at 8AM

Course is relatively flat with a few rolling hills.

Awards: Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female and age groups 3 deep in 5 year groups beginning with 10 an under to 75 and over.

Shirts and goodies: Shirts will be guaranteed to those who register by 4/10/18.  Those who register after that date and on race day are not guaranteed a shirt or size.  There will be plenty of refreshments.

Series affiliation: The race is part of the 2018 Black Bag Race Series.

Timing and Results:  Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.coolrunning.com and www.athlinks.com.

Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on.  Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time.  If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time.  Sorry, no refunds.
