The Race1The 33rd Annual Helen Keller Festival Run is a 5 Mile run
held in conjunction with the Helen Keller Festival in Tuscumbia, AL, the
birthplace of Helen Keller. A one mile fun run is held following the 5
miler. The race will be administered by the Tennessee River Athletic
Club (TRAC).The Course2The 5 Mile course is relatively flat with only
one major hill. The course winds it's way through historic Tuscumbia,
the festival headquarters at Spring Park, and passes Ivy Green, the
birthplace of Helen Keller. The course is USATF certified, 5 Mile -

Festival3The Helen Keller Festival began in 1979 as a tribute to the
life of Helen Keller, America's First Lady of Courage.The Festival remains a volunteer project, annually attracting over
75,000 people to events held throughout the city. It has grown to
include arts and crafts, art exhibits, athletic events, a parade, street
concerts, and performances of William Gibson's world famous drama, The
Miracle Worker.

Mile Awards will be given for the top three male and female, first male
and female masters, and top three male and female finishers in 5-year
age groups through 65. Special trophies will be presented to the oldest
male and female finisher. One Mile awards will be given to the top three
male and female finishers in the 0-9 and 10-14 year age groups. 5 Mile
award winners are not eligible for one mile awards. Award presentations
will be made on the courthouse lawn following the 1 mile run.
