 _ 2018 Low Tide Ride & Stride:

Just once a year the US Navy makes a special exception for a thousand runners and bikers to enjoy an unspoiled and protected 8-mile stretch of beach between Imperial Beach and Coronado’s North Beach. The annual Low Ride and Stride event, put on by Coronado Rotary, is a completely unique, family-oriented experience that challenges the ardent athlete and excites the youngsters and participants who are out for the view, the sand and a beach that has been voted in the top 10 worldwide many times. Participants include runners, bike riders of all ages and bike styles. The low tide allows them to follow the beach line from the start line at the YMCA to the finish line just beyond the Hotel Del Coronado facing the approach end of the Naval Air Station approach runway.

_ The 8.2 mile beach course traverses hard packed sand at low tide. Mile markers clearly mark the distance and participants will find that the hard sand is easy on the legs. Occasionally there will be seaweed and other obstacles left by mother nature, but most participants will not lose stride along the course. Bikers can use any style of bike as the hard sand will support even the thinnest of tires. The course allows participants of all ages to enjoy event at whatever pace they decide.

 _ There are FREE shuttles to bring participants to and from the start/finish. Please be reminded that there are no bikes allowed on these shuttles.

The 2018 Low Tide Ride & Stride starts at 8:00am at Camp Surf YMCA on SATURDAY, June 16th.

Shuttles for the 2018 race run continuously from 6:00 am – 8:00 am and 9:00 am – 11:30 pm:

Pre-Race Shuttles: 

  From: Sunset Park

  To: Camp Surf for the starting line

  Times: continuously starting from 6:00 a.m. to the last shuttle at 8:00 a.m.

(then the race will take you from Camp Surf and end at Sunset Park)

Post-Race Shuttles: 

  From: Sunset Park

  To: Camp Surf

  Times: continuously starting from 9:00 a.m. to the last shuttle at 11:30 p.m.

Public Parking is available at both the Start (YMCA Camp Surf) and Finish (Coronado’s Sunset Park)
