_ The 2018 Lou Bird Epilepsy 5k:

All proceeds will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation of North/Central Illinois, located in Crystal Lake. This office serves all of McHenry County. The funds will be used to pay for medications and transportation for McHenry County residents living with Epilepsy. Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological disorder, affecting 1 in 26 people. It takes as many lives as breast cancer and traffic accidents each year. More people are living with Epilepsy than with Autism, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cerebral Palsy COMBINED. It is a serious disorder and there is no cure. Our motivation for raising awareness and funds is due to our 3 year old daughter, who we affectionately call 'Lou.' Our little Lou Bird is living with epilepsy and is our 1 in 26. We are fortunate enough to get her the best medical care; however, other people in our area are not. Your participation and donations will help your fellow residents get the vital medications and transportation they need.
