2010. It is dedicated to the memory of Don Ritchie, a long time Tamalpa
Runner and Marin County educator, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2009.
The walk/run event is a fund-raiser for pancreatic cancer research at
the UCSF Medical Center. Other beneficiaries include the Marin County
high school athletic programs: the MCAL Track and Field Championships,
the MCAL Cross Country Championships, and the San Rafael Twilight
Relays.Youth Track Races3The Youth Track Races are open to all kids age
12 or under. Distances are chosen to be appropriate for each age group,
starting with a 50 yard dash for toddlers accompanied by a parent, up to
a mile run for the older kids. One $5 entry fee entitles a child to as
many events as desired. It's fun to be part of and fun to watch! A great
photo-op, too. All kids get runner numbers, participation ribbons, and
other cool souvenirs. Register your kids in advance by mail, online, or
on race day.
