RACE HISTORY1The 30th Windward Half Marathon started in 1980 as a way to build relations between Kailua residents and Marines at the neighboring Marine Corps Base. Today the race includes runners from Kailua, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, the neighbor islands, the continental US, and Japan. The 5K is a straight run on Kainalu Drive.FUNDRAISER2This race is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii - Windward Clubhouse. The goal this year is to raise $20,000 to support programming at the Clubhouse.AWARDS3Half Marathon and 5K awards are presented to the first three male and female finishers in Elite and each age division. Adult age divisions are in 5-year increments through 70+; youth divisions are in 2-year increments. Wheelchair athletes are not eligible for age group awards. Keiki 100 yard dash awards are presented to the first three finishers in the 3, 4, and 5 year old age groups.
