 _ Join up to 500 runners as part of the 9th Annual Sault International Festival of Races (formerly Chamber Chase) on Saturday, September 29, 2018!  The Sault International Festival of Races provides runners with a unique opportunity to traverse the Sault Ste Marie International Bridge and run alongside the St. Marys River all set against the backdrop of beautiful fall foliage and cool E.U.P. temperatures.  The Race concludes at downtown Sault Ste Marie, where the 16th annual Oktoberfest will commence at 11am.

Course Info

Half-Marathon:
Aid stations and electrolyte beverages will be along the course. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. Half marathon will start at 7:15 a.m. The course is primarily fast and flat, with the exception of inclines on the International Bridge, and provides many scenic vistas throughout. An elevation chart of the International Bridge is available by clicking here.  

7.1 Mile Bridge Run:
Aid stations and electrolyte beverages will be along the course. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. The bridge run will start at 7:30 a.m.  The bridge run is 7.1 miles and is an out and back course which includes the International Bridge , Portage Ave, and Water St. An elevation chart of the International Bridge is available by clicking here.  

5K:
The 5k will start at 7:45 a.m. Please note the 5K route does not include the International Bridge. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. A 5K course map is below.

Starting Line:
Lake Superior State University on the north side of the road on W Easterday Ave

Finish Line:
Sault Ste. Marie Downtown - Ashmun St.

Free transportaion will be available to return you to the Lake Superior State University Norris Center, post race.

Weather:
The average high temperature at this time of year is 61°F, and the average low is 42°F. The race will continue in any weather conditions, however, lightning may prevent us from running the International Bridge. In the unlikely event (the Sault area rarely experience thunder & lightning storms in September), of lightning we will redirect the race to exclude the International Bridge. Entry Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason. Sorry, no exceptions. Once we receive your entry, you will not receive a refund. If you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your number to anyone else. If you are registered for the half-marathon you can transfer to the Bridge Run without a refund of the difference. There is a $20.00 fee to transfer races. Make Checks Payable to The Sault Events Inc. and mail to PO Box 1000, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Your cancelled check will act as your confirmation.  

Awards:
Finisher medals are awarded to all finishers.  Medals are not guaranteed if you register after September 1st. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall for both Men and Women in all four races. There will be male and female categories in each of the following age groups: 0-9, 10-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.  

Parking
Parking for the Sault International Marathon is available in lots A and B at the James Norris Physical Education Center of Lake Superior State University. You will need to walk a short distance to the starting location.  

Join us for Oktoberfest!
After completing the Sault International Marathon, join us in downtown Sault Ste Marie for the 16th Annual Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest is an opportunity to spend time in downtown Sault Ste Marie to relax and unwind while shopping local food, arts, and crafts vendors; participating in family fun activities; and taking in local pubs and restaurants, including our very own Soo Brewing Company. This year\'s Oktoberfest will include many events such as:  Crime Stoppers Fire Truck Pull Live Music Keg Tossing Competition, Tug-o-War, Keg Rolling Races Oktoberfest Pub Crawl all day Arts, Crafts, and Food Vendors

Travel documents: 
Yes, we are running the International Bridge; however, we are NOT entering Canada. Our route turns around prior to passing through Canada Customs. Because we are not entering Canada, you do NOT need to provide a passport or other travel documents to verify citizenship. Please note that no one is allowed on the Bridge without a runner\'s bib. U.S and Canadian Customs Officials will be on hand to ensure all participants follow the route and no one enters the race from the Canadian side of the bridge.
