Description

2011 Tin Cup Challenge:

  • The Tin Cup Challenge is an annual event sponsored by the Community Foundation of Teton Valley in support of local nonprofit organizations.
  • The Challenge itself is comprised of a marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay, 10K, competitive 5K and a 5K Fun Run/Walk.
  • Additional festivities include free breakfast, entertainment, and activities for children, all set against the backdrop of the spectacular Teton Mountain Range.

  • This event is always held on the third Saturday of July, in Driggs, Idaho.
  • Fees for the timed events range from $20 for the 5K to $45 for the marathon and include chip timing.

    • Course Info

  • The course crosses rolling hills, through barley fields lined with wildflowers and continuous views of the Tetons.
  • The first and last 4.3 miles are in Idaho with the rest of the course on Stateline Road or in Wyoming.
  • For the marathon the running surface is 58% dirt road and 42% pavement.
  • For the half marathon the running surface is 12% dirt road and 88% pavement. Expect some dust and a rough surface on some of the dirt sections.
  • The 10K and 5K are all on pavement.
  • The elevation difference between Driggs (at 6,213 feet) and the highest point on the course is 207 feet with numerous rolling hills.
  • Don't expect to set a PR but do expect to be treated to some spectacular scenery.
