_ The 2019 March for Matthew 5K:
The March For Matthew 5K & 1 Mile (3.1 1) Walk/Run was organized in great honor for my beloved brother, Matthew Scott Tillinger. On May 6th, 2013, at the age of 21- he life was cut short abruptly from an aortic aneurysm. He was in the hospital, waiting way too long to have the "emergancy" procedure that needed to be taken. March 11th (hence the: 3.1 1 in the March For Matthew) 1992 was his birthdate. Not only is my goal to celebrate and honor LIFE, I am hoping to raise as much awareness as I can in Aortic Disease especially in young adults. I hope to raise as much funds as possible to help expend in the research of this as it is a top killer in the U.S. More knowledge, more precautions, and more information to be spread...Please take the opportunity to join us on the 5K run and/or 1 Mile Walk if you are local to help raise awareness, funds, and complete honor in a precious life that was taken from us way too soon. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated from the bottom of all of our hearts- from our family to yours.
At 10:00AM the event will get underway.
Once the participants leave the Town Hall, the course will veer onto Payson Street, cross over Babcock Avenue, and remain on Payson Street to the end. At that point, the track will bear north onto Route 12 and follow Route 12 until it reaches Cemetery Road.
After turning left onto Cemetery Road, the race will continue to the stop sign at the intersection of Canterbury Road and then proceed left onto Canterbury Road, Route 14A East, until it meets Railroad Avenue.
The race will follow Railroad Avenue through downtown Plainfield where it then will intersect with Babcock Avenue. At that point, the course will turn right onto Babcock Avenue, merge onto Community Avenue, and return to the finish line at the Plainfield Town Hall.
