The 4th Annual Birmingham Run For Resilience Ostomy 5k will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019. All proceeds benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc (UOAA) charity, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible. (https://www.ostomy.org/)
RACE DAY SCHEDULE

9:00 a.m. 5K Run/Walk
10:00 a.m. 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
11:30 a.m. Awards Ceremony
Kids activities and vendors will be open throughout the duration of the event. Come join us as we celebrate Ostomy Awareness Day!
Please note the registration fee for those registering after September 6th will increase by 20% to $18.00 per person.
RACE COURSE
This year's run/walk will take place at a NEW location, Avondale Park, located at 4101 5th Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama. This 37-acre tree-filled park features a lake, an amphitheater, baseball diamonds & more. The race will take place within the park and the route will be marked by signs with volunteers along the race route.
PARKING
Parking is available within the park.
PACKET PICK-UP
Day-of packet pick-up will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at Avondale Park.
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 participants in the 5K and the top 3 participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run, and the top Ostomate in both categories.
T-SHIRTS
A unisex or female v-neck size Race T-Shirt and race bib are included with your registration fee. To ensure you receive the T-Shirt size you ordered, please register by Friday, September 13th. We will do our best to provide you with the T-Shirt size you ordered or a similar size, however, this is not guaranteed after September 13th.
OPTIONAL OSTOMY POUCH
Race registration bags will have typical race/sponsor promotional items, ostomy educational materials, and most importantly an ostomy pouch. We encourage non-ostomate participants to put on the pouch for the race to improve awareness and empathy for the challenges faced by people living with an ostomy.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
The Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K will be a family friendly event including kids' activities during the event. Specific activities include:
- Face Painting
- Cornhole
- Coloring

Fundraising is an important aspect of our Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K. Funds raised help UOAA continue to provide resources, educational materials, advocacy and support to the ostomy and continent diversion community.
We invite you to set up your own Personal or Team Fundraiser when registering to participate in the event, or through our DONATION link at the top of this page. You can create a unique Fundraiser Name and URL address, personalize your fundraising message, and direct your friends and family to your page to join your team or sponsor you in your fundraising goal.
