_ The 2019 Hashkéníini Bike Race:

The 52-mile mountain bike race from Navajo Mountain to Shonto traverses some of the most stunning, rugged and remote country in the lower 48. Beginning at the base of Natsisaan, the mountain fades quickly as you descend toward and then into the 2000-foot deep Paiute Canyon on a precarious route. After climbing six miles out of the gorge, you begin the ride across Paiute Mesa through some beautiful country among isolated family camps. Eventually, you will confront the very cool but challenging dunes of Sage Valley. After the climb out of Sage Valley, itʼs then past Tall Mountain and on, for the next 15 miles, toward Shonto.
 
The race is supported with three well-placed aid stations, but riders are encouraged to be self-sufficient on the trail.  Camping is available on Friday night in Shonto and we will provide a light breakfast and early morning shuttle to Navajo Mountain.  Riders receive course support, a performance t-shirt, post-race food and overall and age-group awards.
