Description
2011 Beaches 44 Mile Ultra Marathon:
The Beaches Ultra Marathon follows famous Gulf Boulevard from mile marker 22 south along the barrier islands of Pinellas County Florida. The beach towns of Clearwater, Belleair Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Reddington Shores Reddington Beach, Madiera Beach and St. Pete Beach. Runner will turn around at mile marker 0 located and the southern most barrier island in the county at Pass a Grille and head back to the finish line at the Sand Key Sheraton.
This is a self supported race, however we will have water and medical tents located at several points on the course.
You can provide drop off bags at the start line to be dropped at the various tents.
Most athletes will have a support crew that will ride ahead and meet along the course to provide water, fuel and any other necessary support.
Relay Teams:
This race can be run as an individual, or part of a relay team.
Relay teams can consist of up to 6 runners.
You must have your own support van and be responsible for transporting the athletes to drop off points. Course Info
The 44 mile run will have the athletes running on the sidewalk and/or walking lanes of the northbound lane of Gulf Boulevard.
This is a very safe course with beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico to the west and the intra coastal waterways to the east.
The out and back course will allow the athletes to interact in both directions.
There are several mini marts available along the course if you need to purchase and additional food/fuel or to use the bathroom.
