2020 Pier to Peak...

_ The 2020 Pier to Peak:

Pier to Peak is Santa Barbara's unique run/walk that starts at sea level, winds through the City and finishes on top of the mountains (elevation 4,000 ft.). The challenging climb provides particiapnts magestic views of the South Coast.

Event details and schedule

The run start time is 6:30am (6:00am for walkers) at Stearns Wharf, State Street & Cabrillo Blvd.. The finish is approx. 13 miles later on La Cumbre Peak where there will be a well-earned medal for all finishers.

Packet Pick-Up will be at Hazard's Cyclesport, 110 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101 from Noon to 4pm. Saturday September 5, 2020. Late registration if space is available. Online registration closes when full or midnight, Thursday September 3, 2020. There will be limited packet pick-up Sunday morning before the event at Stearns Wharf, but please try and pick up Saturday.

This is a challenging run/walk with the climb itself and weather condtions - be prepared!

Shuttles will be provided for participants back near the start area. Please study the map provided on the website for parking and start location.

Following is some more detailed information:

Runners are escorted through Santa Barbara by members of the Echelon and SB Bike Clubs along with the SB Police. Volunteer course monitors help throughout the City.

Water/aid stations and port-a-potties are provided along the course. 

Course route is up State Street, to East Haley to Santa Barbara Street to right turn on Mission Street, Then left on Laguna St. towards the Mission. Right on E. Los Olivos St.  to right on Mountain Dr. (includes a section of 192) to Gilbraltar Rd. to Camino Cielo Rd. finishing at Look Out Park on La Cumbre Peak. Course is open to traffic at all times and participants must adhere to the rules of the road, mainly staying in the 3-foot curb lane. Where necessary traffic controls will be in place to ensure the safety of the runners/walkers.

Friends/family can drive to the top where there are pull-outs for parking. Please adhere to spectators instructions that are available at packet pick-up. Exit the course driving west to Hwy. 154. Do not return via the uphill route.

This is a run/walk into the back country so plan according. Carry your favorite energy fuel and use the aid stations as drop zones. Please - No liter on the course!

Friends/family should never escort a runner.

Shuttles will be provided for all runners that need a ride back to the designated drop area. Parking is available throughout the lower Santa Barbara area. Please study the map provided on our website to determine what works best for you. The Garden Street lot is located closest to the start but there are parking fees.

Please watch the weather conditions as we approach race day and plan accordingly.

A vehicle will be designated prior to the start for transporting gear to the finish.
