2012 Kitt Peak Ascent 10 Mile Run:
We invite you to conquer this entirely uphill challenge from the desert floor to the top of the peak at 6875 feet above sea level!
Runners will enjoy a smoothly paved course beginning at the base of Kitt Peak on the Tohono-O'odham Reservation near Tucson, Arizona, and finishing at the World famous Kitt Peak National Observatory. Course Info
Fluid stations will be available every 2 miles.
2 ambulances and 2 medical teams will be on stand-by.
2 of the water stops are self serve "cupless" stations so please carry a waterbottle.
Station 1 (water and Cytomax);
Station 2 (self serve, water only);
Station 3 (water, Cytomax, oranges, bananas, watermelon, medical team, ambulance, music);
Station 4 (self serve, water only).Directions
The start is 44 miles southwest of Tucson via State Route 86 on the Tohono O'odham Reservation.
Allow 60 minutes of drive time from Tucson.
Take I-10 to I-19 South.
Less than 1 mile is Ajo Way/Hwy 86 (Exit 99).
Take this exit West (right).
Proceed past Ryan Airfield and Three Points.
Continue until Junction 386 (Kitt Peak turnoff).
Turn left onto 386.
The start is located 2 miles after the turnoff.
No gas facilities are available at Kitt Peak. Other Info
