_ The 2020 Highlands Twilight 5K & 10K:

Come join us for the eighth annual Rotary Club of Highlands Twilight 5K and 10K! (Must be 15 and older to run the 10k, parts of the course will be unmonitored.) 5k Fun for the whole family,strollers welcome, walkers welcome, yet the 5k will be challenging for experienced runners. 10k is challenging and will climb Big Bear Pen Mtn in town.  T-shirt guaranteed if registered by July 15, 2020. We will order extra shirts after that date, which will be first come first serve. Light up necklaces for the kids. Everyone crossing the finish line gets a beer from the Ugly Dog Pub. There will be a Rock n Roll concert by Tea 4 Three, Highlands own rock n roll band during and after the race 6-10 PM. Awards presented to overall top male and female(5k and 10k), top Masters(5k), Grand Masters(5k), Senior Grand Masters(5k) and top 3 finishers(5k and 10k) in each 5 yr age division. Kids under 5 run for free. Kids under 10 are $10.00. This is the premier 5k and only 10k event in beautiful Highlands NC.  Come race and spend the weekend in our beautiful town.  USATF certified 5K COURSE NC16004DW. Early packet pickup Friday August 15th from 4-6 at Highlands Recreation Park.

Race is on August 15th starting at 6PM at the Kelsey Hutchinson Founders Park. The 5K course is undulating, beginners or walkers will find it friendly, yet the faster runners will be challenged. 10K course is challenging and climbs Bear Pen Mtn.  "Will you eat the Bear or will it eat you"!  Registration and check-in will start at 4PM. Early packet pickup Friday August 15th from 4-6 at Highlands Recreation Park. Please allow enough time to get checked in. Parking will be available around the Kelsey Hutchinson Park, Highlands Recreation Park, Highlands Ballfield, and Highlands Post Office. Bring chairs, coolers, refreshments, blankets to join us for the evening music, starting around 7:30PM, it is going to be a blast!!! Glow necklaces for the kids. Rarely above 80 degrees in summer. Always cool in the evening. Get out of the heat! This is your opportunity to come to "cool" Highlands NC and run on the plateau. Kids under 5 run 5K for free. Kids 5 to 9 $10.00 for 5K. Must be 15 years of age or over to run 10K, parts of the course will be unmonitored and open to car traffic.  Day of race price will be $40.00 for 5K and $50.00 for 10K, so sign up early.
