_ The 2020 Run in the Name of Love 5K:
Run in the Name of Love, a unique event offering runners and walkers the opportunity to honor or to pay tribute to an individual who is/was a very special person in their lives. Participants will enjoy the charm of the area, historic sites, the natural beauty of the course & a memorable finish line celebration. The race will take place on June 21, 2020 and events include a timed 5K run and a 2K walk (dogs welcomed!). These events benefit the Big Sur Marathon's youth fitness program JUST RUN®.
Event details and schedule
START LOCATION: SUNSET CENTER, SAN CARLOS STREET AT EIGHTH AVENUE, CARMEL, CA
FINISH LOCATION: DEL MAR PARKING LOT AT THE BASE OF OCEAN AVENUE.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation back to the start at Sunset Center, approximately a one mile walk up Ocean Avenue.
Bibs and timing devices may be picked up Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 11:00 – 3:00 PM at Sunset Center in Carmel. There will be packet pickup race morning between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, but it is recommended that you pick up on Saturday!
Awards offered in the 5K event only. Awards will go to the top male and female finishers (based on gun time) and divisional awards go three deep in ten-year age groups to 80+ after 5 -11, 12-15 and 16-19. Awards will go three deep for the top Father/Son and Father/Daughter and Mother/Son and Mother/Daughter combined times. The awards ceremony will be held at the finish celebration area at 9:30 AM.
5K open to 1,000 registrants. Must be 5 years of age or older to participate. 2K open to 300 registrants, no age limit. Dogs on leashes are welcome in the 2K only. The course will close at 10:00 AM. The finish celebration will end at 11:00 AM.
