_ The 2020 Project Zero 5K - NEW DATE:
Just like athletes, survivors are fighters. But their fight is a grave one, as 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. That means almost every person in the country has known someone with breast cancer. Mizuno stands with the millions of women and men who have been impacted by breast cancer, have lost a loved one, or are personally fighting the disease.
The goal of #ProjectZero is simple, yet incredibly difficult: to completely eliminate breast cancer, so that no one else will have to face this struggle. Partnering with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Fleet Feet Sports, Mizuno is committed to beating breast cancer, one drive, one pitch, one sprint at a time.
This year's race is in memory of Kathy Van Riper, a Sonoma County native. Proceeds from this event will support Sutter’s Cancer Support Services. Thanks to generous support from the community, Sutter is able to provide a wide variety of services to people with cancer for free, including women with breast cancer. This year, Sutter has the opportunity for a $300,000 match grant so every dollar donated becomes two for breast cancer patients.
All participants will receive a commemorative glass.
