Description

_ The 2020 Run with the Roosters Kinney Road 5 Miler:

Yes, we know it's hot out there in the summer. That's why we're inviting you to "Run With the Roosters," Kinney Rd. 5 Mile Run & Walk, at Old Tucson Studios at 5:45 a.m. (or first sign of light). As always, Everyone Runs brings you the most value for your money with our famous free Mexican breakfast, running shirt in cotton or tech material, free photos, and overall and 5-year age group rooster trophy awards! New this year, commemorative rooster coasters for everyone!

In the event that we are prohibited by state laws regarding Covid-19 gatherings, all registrations will transferable to another 2020 Everyone Runs' event (including the Run with the Roosters virtual race, or deferral to the 2021 Run with the Roosters.  There will be no refunds as we must pay our event fees in-advance.

This year, the race is all about the run and nothing more.  Health and safety are our #1 concerns.  If you cannot abide by social distancing at all areas of the race, please choose the virtual event instead.

The event details for the Virtual 5-Miler can be found at the end of these instructions.

Directions: Speedway west to Gates Pass.  Travel Gates Pass to Kinney Rd.  Turn left (south) on Kinney.  The first Old Tucson entrance is the employee and delivery entrance – you must use that entrance.  Please try not to travel from Ajo to Kinney, as Kinney will be closed to traffic at 5:35 a.m.

Parking Details: Our course starts and finishes at the main park entrance to Old Tucson Studios at 201 S. Kinney Rd. Please arrive on-time.  All roads will be closed by 5:35 a.m.  Parking is plentiful and is right near the start/finish line.  We will start parking you via the Old Tucson employee parking lot, which is the first (north) entrance of Old Tucson. Early arrivals will be directed down the employee entrance road to the main lot for up-font parking.

Health & Welfare: if you not feeling well in any way, we ask that you not come to the race.  You can switch to the virtual 5-miler or defer to the 2021 Run with the Roosters.  We are very serious about this, as we do not want to be a part of the spread of any illnesses.

To avoid close contact, we will be starting this race in self-seeded waves and we reserve the right to limit each wave to 16 runners.  We ask for your honesty in lining up in the correct pace time.

Waves will start with 5:30 to 6:30 milers, then 6:31 to 7:30, 7:31 to 8:30, 8:31 to 9:30, 9:31 to 10:30, 10:31 to 11:30, 11:31 to 12:30, and 12:30+.  Walkers and jogging strollers should start in the back of the pack.  Each wave will leave approximately one- minute apart.  We will call up each group as we move along.  Stay spaced!

Final placements are set by chip timing, so don’t worry about not starting with a specific wave.

We will also require that there will no spitting or nose-blowing anywhere on the course or at the festival area.  During the race you must keep at least 15 feet between you and the runner in front of you.  When passing, please pass at least six feet to the left and let the other runner know that you are passing.

Timing: This event will be chip timed event and you must wear your bib on the front of your body to receive a time.  Your timing chip is on the back of your bib.

The course travels south out of the Old Tucson parking lot onto S. Kinney Rd. You will then run south for 2.5 miles, at which point you will turnaround at the end of Tucson Mountain Park on Kinney Rd (staff will be there to turn you around) and you will then head back to Old Tucson. A course monitor will direct you back into the parking lot. You will then run within the coned area and make your way to the finish line (same as from where you started your run or walk). It’s that simple. You have until 8:15 a.m. to complete the course, at which time Kinney Rd. will be re-opened to vehicles.

VERY IMPORTANT: we are discouraging pre-race and post-race gatherings.  When you arrive, consider waiting in your car until 5:35 a.m.  When you approach the start area, spread-out.  Six to eight feet of space is absolutely required.  If you cannot do so, please choose the virtual race.  We will strictly enforce social distancing and could ask you to leave the event if you cannot practice properly.

When you finish your race, please grab your shirt, burrito, and a bottle of water, and head home. Health and safety are our #1 concerns.  If you cannot abide, please choose the virtual event.

Race Shirts will be available only after the race.

Water/Aid Stations: due to health concerns, we will not have water stops at this race.  You will be required to carry your own water.  DO NOT RUN WITHOUT WATER!  We will have sealed water bottles at the turnaround, and it will be your responsibility to carry it to the finish and dispose of it in the garbage.  Please no littering!

Post-Event and Awards: breakfast burritos will be placed on a table for each person to take one.  Please do not crowd the table.

Awards for in-person event: awards will not be handed out at the race. They will be at both Fleet Feet locations at 12 noon after the race.  You can see you time immediately after you finish by enabling participant tracking to your cell phone.  You will find that on the front page of our Run Sign Up registration page.

*5-year age groups will be determined on race day and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded custom Everyone Runs Rooster trophies.
*Overall winners will be removed from age group qualification

VIRTUAL 5 Miler Details: For those of you who would prefer to run on your own, or with a small group of friends, we are now offering our virtual 5-miler.

The rules are simple:

1.) Run 5 miles wherever you choose. We do not recommend the actual race- course, as it has no shoulder for running. Run at your own risk. We will not be held liable for unwise choices. You must try to run at 5:45 a.m. or earlier, to keep the spirit of Run with the Roosters, and try to find a course with rolling hills if you can.  We do have a list of 11 Tucson courses that we created.  You’ll find it at everyoneruns.net under the Rooster race details.

2.) In order to have a time in the results, you must send us a photo of you and your watch showing the time and mileage. You will be included in virtual age group results and eligible for an age-group first-place award (2nd and 3rd will not be awarded in the virtual race). If you don't want a time, that's cool.

3.) Swag: you’ll still receive your race bib, shirt, and be entered in our post-race raffle.  The bib will be emailed to you to print at home. Your shirt will be available post-race at Fleet Feet only on Oracle Rd.

At Everyone Runs, we like to make sure everyone has a choice. We hope you'll choose to run with us!
