_ The 2020 AFCEA 5K Run for STEM:

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is a non-profit international association that is dedicated to supporting global security by providing an ethical environment that encourages a close cooperative relationship among civil government agencies, the military and industry.  

AFCEA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the surrounding communities of Hanscom Air Force Base and is comprised of small and large member firms, professionals and active duty and retired military working together to enhance community service. A key facet of the AFCEA mission is to The AFCEA Educational Foundation which serves to support excellence in education, provide educational incentives, and assist people pursuing education and careers in STEM-related disciplines. Since its inception, the Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA has continuously supported numerous STEM-related activities and initiatives from generous donations, sponsorship and event-based income. Over $72,000 in scholarships and grants were awarded this year!

Because of contributions and support from our membership network, the Lexington-Concord Chapter's Education Foundation supports the following STEM-focused initiatives:

• High School Fellowship Internships & Scholarships
• ROTC Detachment Scholarships
• Middlesex Community College Scholarships
• Hanscom Enlisted Education Fund
• Hanscom Career Day for High School Seniors
• High School Science Teaching Tools
• High School Science Fair Awards
• Middle School Rocket Box / Rocket Day Launches
• Elementary School Math Counts Program
• Hands-on Science Workshop, collaboration with Discovery Museums
