Please visit www.ElevateRace.com for the most up to date and detailed information.

Thank you for your interest in participating in our 4th annual Elevate race!

  • What: 5k, 10k & 12 hour race
  • Purpose: To support our Elevate missions trip in June of 2021
  • When: Saturday, February 27, 2020 @ 9:00am (or Friday at 8:45pm for 12 Hour race)
  • Where: First Baptist Church campus in Santa Maria, CA
  • Cost:
    • 5k/10k = $22
    • 12 Hour = $45 (This is a bargain! The average price for 12 hour races here in CA is $155.)

All the proceeds from this event will go to support the Elevate summer missions trip. Your participation as either a runner or volunteer will help make it possible!

5k/10k: For only $22 you can challenge yourself to complete either the 5k (3.1 miles) or 10k (6.2 miles) race. Awards will be given to the winners in both distances for the different age groups at the 10:30am awards ceremony. Runners will be allowed 90 minutes to complete the race. This means 5k participants have plenty of freedom to walk as long as they complete each mile in under 29 minutes. 10k participants will need to average 14.5 minutes each mile which still allows for some walking during the race if needed. While this is a competition, everyone is invited to participate regardless of age or physical ability. It will be a lively and encouraging environment which will be fun for both first timers and experienced runners. Runners must arrive by 8:15 on race morning to receive their race bib and all final instructions before the race begins at 9:00am sharp.  The awards ceremony will take place at 10:30am.

12 Hour race: I know we have some adventurous people out there! How far do you think you could run and walk in 12 hours? The race runs from Friday night, February 26th, at 8:45pm until Saturday morning at 8:45am. It will finish just 15 minutes before the start of the main 5k and 10k. This is a great time to test yourself physically and mentally. Would you like to complete your first marathon? In 12 hours you could even walk a marathon if you could finish each mile in just under 28 minutes.

Here's some good news. We'll have some food and drinks to fuel you through the night, and you can take breaks as often as you'd like. Each lap is 1 mile, and near the start/finish line we'll have an area set up specifically for the 12 hour participants. You're encouraged to bring a comfortable chair, footrest, change of clothes, blankets and anything else that can help make your experience more comfortable. Napping is permitted but not encouraged. Friends and family members are invited to spend the evening there with us supporting and encouraging the participants. There is no minimum number of miles you have to complete. Yes, the person that completes the most loops is the winner, but runners and walkers of all levels are encouraged to set an individual goal and see what they're capable of doing. Races like this are typically very relaxed. Very few people would run the entire time in a race of this distance. Going through the night also provides a unique experience. There will be a variety of awards for the 12 hour race.

As a bonus (or maybe more like a penalty), all 12 Hour participants can also participate in either the 5k or 10k for free if desired! 12 Hour runners must arrive by 8:00pm Friday evening to receive their race bib and all final instructions before the race begins at 8:45pm sharp.

Course info: Each loop is 1.036 miles for the 5k and 10k. The 5k is three loops and the 10k is 6 loops. For the 12 Hour race there is a minor adjustment to make each loop 1 mile. The loop is entirely on the First Baptist / VCA campus, and during the 5k and 10k there will be volunteers throughout the course in order to provide a safe environment for even the youngest of runners. 12 Hour runners will need to have either a headlamp or flashlight to use on the back portion of the loop where there are no lights.

We will have water, Gatorade and bananas throughout the course and celebratory ice cream sandwiches at the end for all finishers. The 12 Hour participants will also have some solid food to choose from. We hope you have a great time training for and participating in this race!
