_ The 2nd Annual Takshanuk Ridge Run:

Race:

Looking for a challenge?  The Takshanuk Ridge Run is a premier fall trail race in Haines, Alaska.  This demanding 11.5 mile trail run climbs through temperate rainforest, along an iconic alpine ridgeline, and ultimately finishes in the center of Haines.  Come join us for the second annual run between the sea and sky in the adventure capital of Southeast Alaska!  100% of the race proceeds will assist the high school cross country team build a fund for team warm ups and buy gear like running shoes for athletes of need! 

Where: 7 mile Saddle Trailhead Parking Lot.

When: To allow for COVID precautions, racers will be assigned a start time based on their anticipated trail speed. Starting at 8:00 AM, small groups of racers will depart every 30 minutes. Please choose a respected start time with 2:00 being the expected finish time. 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30,  or 11:00.  The fastest time last year was just around 3 hours.  There will be a pre-race mandatory zoom meeting on Friday September 11th at 7:00PM to discuss the course, safety, start times, and covid precautions.

Rules:

1. In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Takshanuk Ridge Run is only open to Chilkat Valley residents.  The race director will consider exceptions for recent travelers or non-residents who can show proof of a 14 day quarantine and/or 2 negative COVID-19 tests during the 10-14 days before the start of the race.

2. Racers must complete the pre-race COVID-19 symptom assessment JotForm on the morning of the race.

3. Racers must complete the pre-race COVID-19 Liability Release Waiver JotForm.

4. Racers with any COVID-19 symptom before the race must stay home, isolate themselves and consider getting tested.

5. Racers must sanitize hands on arrival at the start and finish line.

6. Racers must minimize contact and maintain appropriate social distancing at the start, on the trail, and at the finish.

7. Racers must wear a mask and/or face shield which are mandatory at the start, when necessary along the trail, and at the finish.

8. Racers with any COVID-19 symptom that develops during the race must stop, isolate themselves from other runners, descend to their vehicle under their own power, inform the race director, and consider getting tested.

9. We are in a wilderness area and traveling through bear country.  Take care/be aware of the natural surroundings. 

10. In a mountain area, weather and conditions can change fast. Bring the equipment you think you will need to be safe. Only a wind jacket, face covering, hand sanitizer waste bag, and bear spray are mandatory racing gear.

11. Racers must carry a waste bag and pack out any trash.

12. Respect the other runners and the volunteers. They are there to help you.

13. The race is semi-autonomous. Given the current pandemic circumstances, there will be no aid stations this year. Think about and bring the food and liquid that you need.

14. Excluding an emergency, no external aid is permitted outside what the racers can carry with them.

15. In case of injury or danger to another runner, you will need to take appropriate COVID precautions and help until the rescue arrives.

16. The race director has the authority to modify the route, reschedule, and/or cancel the race in case of bad conditions or changes to local pandemic circumstances.

17.  If you decide to stop the race, you need to communicate this to a race volunteer or the race director.

18. No doping.

Violating any of these rules will result in disqualification from the race.

 

Responsibility: The TRR and the CVCRC will not be held liable in case of accident, neglect, infection, and/or loss of the objects of each participant. Participants will be responsible for any damage that may be caused to themselves or others.
