MUST READ INFORMATION:

RED TIDE:  Yes the race is scheduled as red tide is a common condition with our beaches this time of year but even from our shoreline run It can affect your breathing especially if you have asthma, difficulty breathing or have had any respiratory virus this past year. You are each responsible for your own decision, however, if you are not comfortable with the red tide conditions you can transfer for NO fee to our Shark 5K as this same location in August or any other 5K on our calendar for just a small transfer fee. You also have the option of checking in and joining us for the fun at Caddy’s but you can run on your own in a different location if you prefer. If you choose to transfer to the August Shark 5K at Caddy’s Pub go online before midnight on Monday and use code REDTIDE all caps and that will get you into the August event free of charge. Please do not use the code if you choose to join us this Saturday.

CHECK IN AND SHIRT PICK UP:

On Friday I’ll email each of you your bib number assignment and waiver or release. Please bring this with you signed and dated on race morning at 8 a.m. Drop your waiver in the waiver drop off box and pick up your bib number. You must wear your bib number on the front of what you will finish the race wearing. We’ll have bib pins at check in, please use ALL 4.

This race is sponsored by our nonprofit Finish Lines For Scholarships 501c3 so each registrant will receive a short sleeve tech shirt supporting our teens. If you’d like to upgrade to the long sleeve shark themed shirt you can walk onto the front of the Caddy’s deck with $10 for our teen leader. This also helps us raise money for our teens so THANK YOU. Those who registered in the Sponsored category (paid over $70 per registrant) do NOT need to bring $10 as your fee was already added and your shirt was set aside. The long sleeve shark shirts are limited so arrive early if you plan to upgrade. No I don’t have a picture yet as all supplies arrive this week.

PARKING: 

Parking of course is first suggested at Caddy’s Pub 20025 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores, FL 33785. For those who arrive a bit later, you can park either a half mile (.5) north of the Pub in the “narrows” which is the asphalt side of the roadway where there are clearly marked parking spaces. Another option is to park .75 miles just south the Pub off of Gulf Blvd. in the County’s Tiki lot. In this case you may want to drop off any passengers and use this as a short warm up run to the venue. Please abide by any pay stations or meters if you do not park in the Caddy’s lot which is free. 

MEDALS, AWARDS, TIMING AND POST RACE FUN

Runners AND Walkers will be electronically timed up to 59 minutes. We will be post everyone’s time later in the afternoon at www.727CanRace.com in overall finish order. We do NOT post times on race day at the venue. Awards will be presented to first 10 males and first 10 female finisher’s when we get back to Caddy’s Pub, as well as to some seniors and youth if you let us know you might have won if this were an age group race. We purposely do not issue age group award in an effort to draw our favorite group of laid back yet disciplined crowd which we have grown to love!!! All finisher’s will receive the SHARK MOUTH medal attached! Be sure to grab yours at the finish line as we have 1 per bib number and they are FUN!

THEN…come back to Caddy’s grab 2 FREE cans of ice cold Michelob Ultra Organic Light Lager and feel free to open a tab and enjoy your discounted breakfast options at Caddy’s Pub, our favorite breakfast on the beach.  I’ll be back there to join you with some prizes as we play SHARK TRIVIA open to everyone including friends and family so bring the whole group.

START: The run/walk does take place along the hard packed sand along the coastline of the beach across from Caddy’s and shoes are necessary.  Restrooms can only be used at Caddy’s Pub. Please wait in the parking lot until 8:15 a.m. when we’ll walk our group down the PEDESTRIAN lane of Gulf Blvd and cross you at our assigned cross walk. You won’t find it on your own so please wait for direction and we’ll lead you as a group.
