_ The 2021 Belvidere Tornados 5K:
 

Join us for our third annual 5K supporting the Belvidere Tornados Youth Cross Country Team (unfortunately, due to COVID, our event last year was cancelled). The race this year is back on and will be held on Saturday, August 21st at 8:00 AM in Doty Park (start and finish line), also in Belvidere, IL (previously, our start and finish was at Spencer Park, Belvidere). This start and finish will have the majority of the same course (not utilizing much of Spencer Park at all this year) as in previous years, with the exception of the starting and finishing lines (opposite end of course) this year. This is a timed (chipped) race, with timing provided by Tri-3 Sports Timing. All ages and athletic abilities are welcome to participate. Run or walk the 5K, it is up to you. Participants will be in pack order at the starting line with the more serious runners in the front and our walkers at the back of the pack. We will be adhering to Covid-19 guidelines and will most likely run participants in waves (depending on number of participants and Covid guidelines at the time). Races are chip timed (your time doesn’t start and stop until you cross the start line to start and cross finish line to stop). All participants registering by July 31st are guaranteed to receive a Belvidere Tornados 5K shirt, a swag bag and a brand new custom FINISHER MEDAL! There will also be a trophy for Top Finisher Male and Top Finisher Female and custom medals to top finishers (1st-3rd male and female) in various age groups:

• 12 and under
• 13-19
• 20-29
• 30-39
• 40-49
• 50-59
• 60 and over

All proceeds are used to help support the mission of the Belvidere Tornados Youth Cross Country Team, with part of the proceeds also going towards awarding scholarships for the 2021-2022 graduating senior class within the Belvidere School District. This event also helps bring awareness to our community towards leading a healthy lifestyle for a lifetime whether you are a walker or a runner.
