Join us for the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk (Formerly known as the MELD/YSN Classic).

This race is in memory of Joe Marino and his contributions to Rockford's 4th of July celebration and to our community.

Lifescape 4th of July Classic is a race for the ages! This is a race for everyone whether you are an experienced runner, this is your first race, or you are just looking for a fun event to do with their family. This race is a wonderful way to celebrate our nation and support a local nonprofit. 

Racers have the choice of running an 8k, a 2-mile, or participating in the 1-mile family fun walk. All racers will receive race swag, including finisher medals, stylish one of a kind race T-shirts, and....  PANCAKES! After the race, all participants are invited to make the short walk to the Downtown Rockford City Pavilion (Where City Market is held). This race includes a Post Race TAKE HOME Pancake Breakfast! We will have pancakes, plus plenty of other fresh breakfast foods and refreshments.

There will be a rolling start from 7am to 9am in an effort to maintain social distancing. 8k runners need to start by 8:00 whereas the 2 mile runners have until 8:30 am. Racers can come anytime during this timeframe to participate in their race. Further Covid-19 protocols and guidance will be communicated as we get closer to race day.

For those that cannot make it to the event or would like to participate virtually, you have the option of running all of the races virtually and still collecting all the race swag!

All proceeds benefit Lifescape's programs and services. For decades Lifescape has committed itself to serving our area's older adults, families, and caregivers. We serves thousands of older adults each year through its Meals on Wheels program, Adult Protective Services, Adult Day Program, Health & Wellness Services, Retried and Senior Volunteer Program, Comprehensive Care Coordination, and Advocacy & Assistance programs. With some uncertainty ahead of us regarding the COVID pandemic, we want to let you know that this could turn into a virtual race. Right now, we plan on holding an in person event. If we were to make the switch, we would let everyone know asap, and anyone who was already registered would have the option of unregistering and getting their registration refunded.

All race proceeds go toward supporting Lifescape’s services and programs.
