The sixth annual Veterans VA5K will be held the weekend before Veterans Day with a virtual event and a live event if pandemic restrictions are lifted.  

The virtual event will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 6-7. The live event will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, Nov. 7  at the Lexington VA Health Care System Franklin R. Sousley Campus, 2250 Leestown Road. 

The event will benefit the Lexington VA medical centers and the soon-to-be-constructed Lexington Fisher House, which will provide lodging for the families of veterans being treated at the medical center. The Lexington Division of Community Corrections and Columbia Gas of Kentucky and its NiVets employee resource group are presenting and coordinating sponsors of the event.  

EVENT DETAILS AND SCHEDULE

Cost: Early registration for live event participants who will not participate in the virtual event is $32 per adult age 18 and older, $20 for youths under 18, and $25 per member for teams of 10 or more. The virtual entry fee is $39 for adults age 18 or older, $27 for youths under 18, and $35 per member for teams of 10 or more and includes postage for the race packet. After Oct. 23 through the day of the event, an additional $5 will be charged per registrant. T-shirts and goody bags are guaranteed only for participants who register by Oct. 23. Shirts: There are two shirts to choose from, either short or long sleeved.  The long sleeved shirt has an extra charge based on size.  See registration link for pricing.

Packet Pickup: Race packets, including numbered bibs and tshirts, can be picked up from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on race day.  

Awards: Prizes will go to the top five male and female finishers overall and top three finishers in each of the following age groups for males and females: Under 10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-100, and all over 100.  There will be no duplication of awards.

Race Day Schedule: Registration and packet pickup will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Sousley campus. Activities for participants and their families will begin at Noon. The timed race will begin at 1 pm. The awards ceremony and door prize presentations will begin at 2 pm or as soon as times are tabulated. Coffee and hot chocolate will be available for registered participants before the race. Refreshments will be provided post-race.
