Child Advocacy Center of Shiawassee is a non profit organization which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing health & human services, court, school and law enforcement agencies as well as members from the general public.

The Council has been dedicated to providing a series of prevention education programs since its conceptions in 1987. Infant and Child Prevention Education, Darkness 2 Light, Personal Safety Awareness Program and support groups are available to the entire community.

THE CHILD ADVOACACY CENTER:
The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) opened in 2004 through a collaboration with the Shiawassee-Owosso Kiwanis. In 2008, the CAC became accredited and is now recognized by the National Children’s Alliance because it meets strict operational guidelines by providing a multi-disciplinary approach to forensic interviewing. The CAC offers families and children on-site crisis counseling and follow-up services.

We seek to protect children from violence, neglect, trauma and pain, so that they can grow into healthy, strong, well-adjusted adults.
