_The 5th Annual BackCountry 5K for Ellen-Disco Boogie:

Join your neighbors for the 5th Annual BackCountry 5k for Ellen!

Hello neighbors! It's time to sign up for our annual Run Wild for Ellen 5K. This is an awesome event for the whole family. There will be food, music, fun activities for kids and a timed 5K for those who want to sweat it out. Our theme this year will be 70's Disco. So, bring out your inner flower child or disco dad look for a chance to win a groovy prize for best costume! There is always fierce competition for best costume. So, don't be shy!

Sign up is only $20 for participants 12 and older - you get a t-shirt, food, drink, entertainment, and fun!   11 and younger are FREE!  If you can't participate please donate your registration fee.

This event is a tribute to our beautiful friend and neighbor, Ellen Lewis McGrath. Melanoma took her away from us. We promised her we would continue to fight and help find a cure. So please, join us and Ellen's amazing family, Johnny, Katie and Ryan to celebrate her life, while raising money for Melanoma and MS research.

The runs begin at 10AM (kids fun run at 930) and the party gets started shortly thereafter. There will be awards, pancakes/breakfast burritos, live music by our neighborhood's own FIREBALL DADDY, our famous bloody mary and mimosas bar hosted by Amy Demick and Doug Teague, kids activities and plenty more.  All signups include a donation to melanoma research and multiple sclerosis research (in memory of Bob Thumel).

Pets on leashes and strollers are welcome, as are runners and walkers of all ages and abilities!  T-shirts and food are included with registrations 11 years old and up, and kids 10 and under for the fun run are free! The route will be clearly marked throughout the community (planned round trip Solstice to Windmill) - with plenty of local young volunteers showing you the way. There will also been hand sanitizer stations available near the food trucks and bar area.

Thanks to our wonderful neighborhood sponsors this year: Dr. Gary Holt (Holt Orthodontics); Dr. Shari Wolsky (Wolsky Orthodontics); Jill Weisswasser, Wendy Bowen and Scotta Larsen (Denver Trio); Johnny, Katie, and Ryan McGrath; Dave Landin (The Mortgage Company); Michelle Haynes (HR Smiles); Tim Chole, Steve Sandwisch (Fireball Daddy); Joanna Paul (Whatsitsface Toys); Beyond Fitness and Performance; and many more!!
