_The 2021 The Stoneleigh Derby:
The first annual Stoneleigh Derby was set to take place in May of 2020. Due to COVID-19, the event was put on pause. We are finally ready to move forward with hosting the event! The new date for the Derby is October 24, 2021. The Derby is designed to be a one-mile run. Stoneleigh Stallions are encouraged to run, walk, skip, or dance their way through the one-mile course. The race will be held on school grounds.
The cost of registration is $25 per runner. All proceeds will benefit the Stoneleigh Elementary PTA and will help students and staff directly! The registration fee includes a t-shirt!
Who is Eligible?
While the 2020 event originally intended to include a parent-mile and a little-sibs-sprint, the 2021 Derby will be limited to current students. We will host staggered races to cut down on crowds. If a student is not comfortable running the course on their own, an adult may run with the student at no extra cost, but students are encouraged to run on their own when possible. Specific start times will be dependent on the number of registrations we receive and will be communicated closer to the event. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to make this event as COVID safe as possible.
All registered participants will receive a Stoneleigh Derby t-shirt! When you register for the event you will be prompted to enter a t-shirt size. T-shirts will be distributed with the race packet prior to the race. Students are encouraged to wear their t-shirt to the race!
Race packets will be distributed the week before the event. Specific information about packet pick-up will be available closer to the date of the race.
Thank you to our original sponsors who hung on! Limited sponsorships will remain available through 10/1/21. Please email [email protected] if you are interested!
Please note that because the event is outdoors masks are optional. Masks will be required for anyone needing access to school restrooms. If you or a member of your family is experiencing COVID symptoms on race day, please do not attend. If you want to participate in the race but don't want to gather in a group, please consider running the race virtually. Students can register for the race and then email us photos of them running the one-mile race in a location of their choice!
