_The 2022 SISU Ski Fest:
Kick off the return of live, in-person ski racing in the Midwest at the 13th annual SISU Ski Fest, January 8, 2022.
The SISU race course begins at ABR Trails and ends in downtown Ironwood. 2022 will feature our new "Finnish" line in the Downtown City Square, Ironwood's newest park, completed in the Fall of 2021. Racing centers around our signature 30K SISU, along with the 15K Heikki Lunta and the 5K Hauska Hiihto Fun Ski.
We are planning another fantastic event for you! Details will depend on the state of the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic! We will make decisions as far in advance as possible and keep you up to date as we go along! So be sure we have your current email, and check the website periodically as we get closer to race day.
If you deferred your registration from 2021, you have been entered into SISU 2022 and do not need to register at this time! If you registered with our special offer in January, you are registered. Unsure? Click on "Find a Participant" at the top of this page and see if you are registered.
Sisu is a Finnish cultural concept encompassing strength and determination in the face of adversity. It involves combination of stamina, perseverance, courage, and determination held in reserve for hard times. We honor our local Finnish heritage by borrowing this term as the name of our event, and demonstrate our sisu by training for and participating in the challenging events despite cold temperatures, snow conditions, hilly courses, competitive pressure, AND now a second year of a worldwide pandemic!
