The Inua 5k is back in person!

Join us February 26, 2022 in Blue Jacket Park for our 6th annual Inua 5k to support Inua Partners in Hope.  

ABOUT RACE

We are so excited to be able to offer an in-person event this year!  Last year's virtual race was a huge success and we are so grateful for the support from everyone.  This year we will be back in person and will also offer a virtual option for those who prefer to join us that way.  We are looking forward to having your support and participation in the 6th annual Inua 5k to raise money for Inua Partners in Hope.  

Back this year will be the finish line celebration!  We are hopeful that we can gather together to enjoy food, fun, fellowship, and awards after the race to support Inua Partners in Hope.  We will be working with local and state guidelines to make sure that we offer the safest event possible.  Check back here as race day approaches to read the current requirements on masks and social distancing. 

Over the past five years, this event has raised over $143,000 to support Inua Partners in Hope, a program designed to break the cycle of poverty and move orphaned and vulnerable youth in Kenya from dependency to self-sufficiency.  Inua Partners in Hope is a joint ministry of First United Methodist Church Winter Park and Naivasha United Methodist Church in Naivasha, Kenya.  Visit our website for more information about the program: www.InuaPartners.org

RACE SCHEDULE

Saturday, February 26, 2022

5k - 7:30am start

5k Awards - 8:30am

FREE kid's run - 9:00am

LOCATION, DIRECTIONS, and PARKING

Start/Finish area located near the intersection of Robin Road and Upper Park Road in Baldwin Park.  Address to be used for GPS directions is 2330 Robin Road, Orlando, FL.  Parking is available along Upper Park Road and Lower Park Road as well as in the public parking lot off General Rees Avenue.

COURSE

The course is a loop that begins and ends in Lower Blue Jacket Park.  Our race begins in Blue Jacket Park near the intersection of Robin Road and Upper Park Road in Baldwin Park.  Runners will follow the sidewalk within Blue Jacket Park, then cross Lakemont to wind around beautiful Lake Baldwin’s paved trail.  Finish will be back in Blue Jacket Park.  Bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates, and dogs will be prohibited from the race course. The use of headphones is discouraged.

PRICING

All entrants are subject to a $3.00-3.50 convenience fee for online registration.  Participants 17 and under of 65 and older, will receive a $5 discount in pre-race day registration fee for in-person 5k.

Walk-up registration will be available at packet pick-up & on race day!  Shirt Sizes are NOT guaranteed for race day registration and race day packet pickup.

PACKET PICK-UP 

Packet pick-up will be located at First United Methodist Church Winter Park, 125 N. Interlachen Ave. Winter Park, FL 32789.  Exact dates and location on campus will be listed prior to race week.

You may have another runner pick-up your packet for you.

Packets can be mailed if you prefer.  Please select shipping option at checkout.  We will ship up to 4 packets per address for $7.50.                      

STROLLERS

We are happy to have you join us with your jogging strollers, but please be courteous of other participants and start BEHIND all runners.  Stroller/jogger operators must yield the right of way to runners; please do not weave through packs of runners.  Have fun and stay safe!

WALKER FRIENDLY

Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Inua 5k!  Please allow runners to line up in front of walkers.

RESULTS

Results will be available at the race.  Runners and walkers who wear the designated chip are included in the race results.

AWARDS 

Top three overall males and top three overall females will receive awards. 

Awards will also be given to the top three males and females in each age group. 

Kids’ Run participants will each receive a prize.

T-SHIRTS and MEDALS - NEW this year...Finisher's Medal!

All participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher's medal with the 5k and virtual 5k options.  Kid's running the FREE kid's run will receive a kid's run medal and can purchase a shirt for $5 at registration or on race day (while they last).  We are excited to have one of the Inua youth design the t-shirt again this year!  Click here for artist spotlight. KIDS' RUN 

Children will be divided into age groups and distances will range from 400 yards to one mile.  Medal given to all finishers.  Kid's run is free.  Please register children 11 and under.  T-shirts are available for purchase at registration and on race day.

VIRTUAL 5k

Won't be in town for the race or not interested in joining an in-person event at this time, but still want to support our cause?  Register as a virtual runner and run your own 5k anywhere in the United States.  T-shirts and medals are available for virtual runners.  Items can be picked up during regular packet pick-up times or you can choose to have items mailed directly to you.  Cost for shipping is $7.50 for up to 4 race packets to one address.

TEAMS

Grab a group of friends or co-workers and form a team!  Teams of 10 members or more will receive a $2/per runner discount on entry fees.  Email [email protected] PRIOR to registering to receive discount code. Fundraising with your team is encouraged!  Prizes and incentives will be awarded for top fundraising teams and individuals.  Corporate teams with fundraising over $2500 will have the company logo placed on the back of race shirt.
