_The 2021 UNC Veterans Services Freedom 5K:

The UNC Veterans Services Freedom 5K returns! We’re back to running around campus, though registrants who want to participate remotely can still do so.

We will start at Roudebush Cottage, home of UNC Veterans Services at 9:00 a.m. Participants can run or walk the race, and feel free to bring strollers or furry friends along too. 

Important Details:

• This year’s race will take place on Saturday, 11/6/2021 at 9:00 a.m.
• We’re back to our on-campus course, starting at Roudebush Cottage and ending at the Pepsi Fan Fest Tailgate.
• We’re still offering virtual racers the chance to sign up, and they can keep track of their training progress in our UNC Veterans Services Strava Group!
• Everyone registered by Friday, 10/15 is entered in a raffle to win a football signed by UNC Head Coach and former Denver Broncos player Ed McCaffrey!
• Students can register for a reduced price. Select “Student” on the registration page instead of “Individual”
• Non-students sign up as individual registrants, with the option to purchase a race shirt separately if they do not wish to race this year.
• Neither of the other registration options (Student or Individual ) come with the race shirt, it must be added separately.

The fun doesn’t end at the finish line: Featured at the Pepsi Fan Fest Tailgate will be a brand new BBQ restaurant owned and operated by one of UNC’s own student veterans: The Bearded Bear! A portion of sales at the tailgate will also go towards the Veterans Scholarship Fund. Grab some well-deserved BBQ post-race while you enjoy a great tailgate.
