_ The 2022 Sunshine Festival July 4th 5k & 1 mile:

Welcome to the 38th Annual Sunshine Festival July 4th Race! This is a USTAF Certified 5k route.
The 5k race winds through the beautiful live oak and Spanish moss-lined streets of St. Simons Island at 7:00 AM!
The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held immediately following the 5K at 8:00 AM. The 1 Mile Fun Run will start and finish at the same location as the 5k.  Start/Finish Location: Kings Park, 601 Mallery Street, St Simons Island. (Across from Mallery Park)
Starting line will be sorted by expected pace, fast people upfront, walkers, and strollers in the back.  Chip timing provided by Second Wind Timing Bathrooms are in Mallery Park, and we will have porta-potties.  Fees include a high-quality short-sleeve T-shirt (youth and adult sizes) or Tank Top (adult sizes). Shirts are by far our biggest race expense, we never wish to have too many leftover, but we do desire for every runner to have a shirt! Please Register! For backup, we have previous years' race shirts and club running socks. 

Only participants registered by June 10th  are guaranteed a shirt.

Runners Expo held on Sunday, July 3rd, 2-5 pm at Packet Pickup

PACKET PICKUP

Sunday, July 3rd, 2-5 pm - St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 250 Kings Way. STRONGLY recommend you pick up your packet on Sunday, the day before the race. Your friends or family can pick up your packet upon request. Walk-Up registration is available. Shirts are first come first serve and are not guaranteed for walk-up registration.  RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP

- 1 Mile RACE DAY PRE-REGISTERED PICK-UP & WALK-UP REGISTRATION  WILL END PROMPTLY AT 7:45 AM!
Golden Isles Track Club uses the proceeds of this event to support running-related causes in our community, including Girls on the Run; local high school track and cross country teams;  water fountains in local parks; and local projects that develop and maintain walking, running, and cycling paths in Glynn County.

AWARDS

5k Awards: Overall, Masters (40-49), Grand Masters (50-59), Senior Grand Masters (60+), and top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups - 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over. 1st place AG 5k awards will receive an unframed print from local artist Addison Palmer
2nd and 3rd place AG 5k awards will receive a patriotic-themed medal Overall Male and Overall Female winners will each receive $100. Masters winners will each receive $25 each.  All Master award winners will receive a framed print from local artist Addison Palmer 1 Mile Awards: Top 3 male and Top 3 female finishers under 14 years of age Award for the Best Costume. Gift sponsored by Starbucks - Must be present to win. The contest will start at approximately 8:15 am at the Awards Area
Award for the Largest Team.  Gift sponsored by Winn-Dixie
Award for the best-decorated home along the route. Gift sponsored by Winn-Dixie

SPECIAL APPEARANCES

First Tee golf program for kids will be on-site with an inflatable Shark to have fun with golf swings that teach kids how to hit the board to get the Birdie Balls airborne.   Sons of the American Revolution will be on-site in period costumes for photo ops.  Watermelon Queen Ms. Adahy Pritchett will be on-site, handing out refreshing watermelon!

POLICY

We are very sorry, but due to our Insurance Policy, dogs (except service dogs), pets, and roller blades are not permitted to run in or be used in the race
