_ The 18th Annual Vac & Dash Beach Blast 5K:

                The Vac & Dash 18th Annual Beach Blast 5K is one of the region's premier road races.

The Beginning -

Back in 2004, at one of the the first meetings of the newly formed Uwharrie Running Club, Peter Asciutto, Derek Blalock, Matt Greene, Lee Allen and Joanne Rinker met at the Firehouse Cafe in Downtown Albemarle and put together our plan for the 1st ever Beach Blast 5K.    We asked ourselves "What makes a great race?"

Our answers - A great course,  awesome goody bag with stuff in them, cool t-shirts, great post race snacks and awards.  18-years later, those goals are still the same.

Our Goal is to put on a first class race, that is challenging and fun. In 2022 we will limit the race to 300 participants.
