_ The 2021 Rankin Ugly Sweater 5K and Tinsel Tangle 2k:

Event Information: Thanks to our title sponsor, Accuvision Eye Care, the streets of Mt. Holly are about to be swarmed with the season’s most terribly tacky sweaters. Get out your most embarrassing, awe inspiring Ugly Sweater and join us in downtown Mt. Holly on December 18, 2021 at the Accentuate MedSpa Start Line to get this season off to a holly jolly start. The Rankin Elementary Ugly Sweater 5k and Tinsel Tangle 2k are produced by the Rankin Elementary PTA to raise funds to support the awesome students and staff at Rankin Elementary.  If you don’t have (or admit to having) an Ugly Sweater we would still love to have you join us to support our PTA – feel free to hit the 5k or 2k course festive costuming or not. We can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces as they cross the L&E Properties Finish Line.

And if running is not your thing come on out just to see the sights, have a cup of hot cocoa, and enjoy a  treat. We hope you will also stop by the Elf Zone to enjoy some family friendly activities and mingle with some elves. The Carolina Food Monger food truck will be selling breakfast and Catawba Coffee is providing the hot cocoa and coffee for purchase.

Registration: Registration fees for the 5k are $20 for ages 18 and over and $15 for ages 17 and under. Registration fees for the Tinsel Tangle 2k are $15 for ages 18 and over and $10 for ages 17 and under. Note: The registration process will automatically discount the price based on age so make sure you are registering for the correct event. Prices will increase $5 on Race Day. Online registration ends 12/15/2021. Registration includes entrance to the Elf Zone bounce area. For non registered participants the Elf Zone will have a $5 entry fee at the event in order to enjoy the bounce houses.

Packet Pick-up: Early packet pick-up will be from 2:30-5:30 on December 17 at Ida Rankin Elementary. Same day registration and packet pick up opens at 7:30 am on December 18, 2018.

Awards: The Ugly Sweater 5k is a timed event and thanks to our Awards Sponsor, Oblinger Family Dentistry our awards structure will be for as follows: 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place for 8 and under, 11 and under, 12-14, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34 (continuing in 5 year increments until 59),  and 60 and over -  Male and Female overall for ages 11 and under, 17 and under, 18-60, 60+ (to be pulled from individual age groups).

Costume and theme awards will also be given for the Ugliest Sweater, the Ugliest Sweater Party (group/team of ugly sweaters), the most Terrific Trimmings (deck yourself out individually), the Griswolds (best decked group) all those interested in being entered into the costume contest must enter on race day.

The Tinsel Tangle 2k is an untimed event with no awards.
