Race Information

The Forge Trail Half Marathon is one of the few long-distance trail races in the Chicago area.  The race will take place on the gravel / crushed limestone and single track MTB trails throughout the Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park and adjoining Heritage Quarries Recreation Area and I&M Canal trails.  

As an early season event held in March we anticipate variable weather, creating more adventure to the race.  The event will proceed in all weather conditions other than unsafe situations such as lightning.

The trail half marathon will traverse the various gravel / crushed limestone trails and MTB single track.  Athletes will experience a unique long distance trail race with a cool course, awesome scenery and a great venue based at the Mount, the stage and entertainment center of the Forge: Lemont Quarries.       

Course Information

The Forge Trail Half Marathon traverses the wide gravel trails and single track throughout the Forge and adjoining trails systems.  The course is being designed and the course will be released well before race day.  Athletes can expect a unique trail race with a variety of terrain on the main gravel trails.  The main gravel trails are mostly flat with a few small hills, wooden bridge crossings, mulch and gravel sections,  The MTB / single track trails will have more variability in the terrain, including some ruts, rocks, roots, mud, and other adventurous fun.

Registration

Entry Fees:

• Tier 1 (First 150 Registered) = $55
• Tier 2 (151 – 300) = $65
• Tier 3 (301 – 400) = $75

Race Cap is 400

*Includes entry to the race, electronically timed results, earned overall and age group awards, a cool Forge long sleeve hoodie, swag and post-race party with food, beer, and other beverages.

Online registration closes Monday, March 14.

In person registration will be available at packet pick-up and race day if the event is not sold out.

Awards will be the following:

1st – 3rd Overall Male and Female

1st Overall Male and Female Masters (Age 40+)

1st Overall Male and Female Lemont Resident

Mr. and Ms. Mid Pack (Athlete that finishes in the exact middle of the pack in their gender by placement)

1st – 3rd 10-Year Male & Female Age Groups from < 20 – Age 70+ (Example, Male 30-39, Female 40-49, Female <20)

Additional awards, prizes and raffles will be offered and announced before the race.
