_ The 2022 The Moore & Giles Virginia Kids Race:
 

The historic Moore & Giles Virginia 10 Miler will celebrate its 48th year running on September 24, 2022. Join more than 4,000 runners on a historic course that has hosted participants from around the globe. The 10 mile run, 4 and more mile run/walk, and Amazing Mile Children's Run invite men, women, and children of all ages and abilities to participate. The festivities begin Thursday night with packet pick-up, and continue Friday with the Amazing Mile Children’s Run, and a fun, family-friendly festival in downtown Lynchburg. On Saturday, thousands will take part in the 10 mile run and our 4+ mile run/walk. The Lynchburg Road Runners Club, founded in 1973 to organize the Virginia 10 Miler, continues to own and organize the Moore & Giles 10 Miler and its associated events. *Children can register for one of three Amazing Children's Runs to be held Friday evening September 24th. Entry for the Amazing Mile Childrens 1/4 mile (Ages 0-5) and 1/2 mile (Ages 6-9) and The Amazing Mile Childrens Run (Ages 13 & under).
**Race Entry Limits:  1/4 mile (150), 1/2 mile (200), 1 mile (400). Registration will close when these events reach capacity. 

Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Entry fees cannot be applied to future races or events and/or transferred to another person. Participants may not change from one race to another.

Please note:  No strollers or personal music devices. No Pets of any kind.

VIRGINIA 10 MILER COURSE PROFILE  -  10 MI
Runners proceed north on Langhorne Road for 3 miles, the first 1.5 miles are downhill after which runners climb Langhorne Road to Rivermont Terrace reaching the 3 mile mark and proceeding onto Rivermont Terrace. After a short distance on Rivermont Terrace, runners turn east onto historic Rivermont Avenue running past Randolph College (4/6 mile) and continuing down Rivermont Avenue to Riverside Park (4.5 mile).  The course proceeds clockwise through Riverside Park overlooking the James River. Runners return same route finishing up the infamous, 1.5 mile “Farm Basket” hill.

4+ MILE RUN & WALK (NEW COURSE) - 4.4 MI
For the first time in the event's history our shorter distance participants will run/walk Lynchburg's newest trail extension (Langhorne Road Bridge), the challenge of Farm Basket Hill, and the excitement of finishing at E.C. Glass High School. The start and finish for the 4.5 mile event are the same. Participants proceed down Langhorne Road following the 10 Miler course past Farm Basket to Cranehill.
Turning Left onto Cranehill participants proceed .2 miles to Linkhorne Middle School turning left into the school entrance from Cranehill Drive and following the parking lot driveway to the Blackwater Creek Bikeway Langhorne Bridge Trail extension. Participants will enjoy a paved bikeway above Langhorne Road as they cross Langhorne Road Bridge, turning off the bikeway at the Awareness Garden and onto Old Langhorne Road.
Participants rejoin Langhorne Road proceeding underneath Langhorne Road Bridge and travel back to E.C. Glass High School up Farm Basket Hill (Langhorne Road, 1.5 miles).

TIME LIMITS:  VA10 Miler (2.5 hours)  VA4+ Miler (2.5 hours) - Our Finish Line Closes at 10:30am
Participants must be past the following areas to avoid disqualification
Rivermont Avenue:  9:30am
Langhorne Road / Crane Hill Drive:  10:15am
Finish Line Closes:  10:30am

FINISHER MEDALS & T-SHIRTS
Commemorative 48th Anniversary Finisher Medals to all that finish the Moore & Giles Virginia 10 Miler. Commemorative Finisher Medals to all that finish the Virginia 4+ Mile events.

Event t-shirts are guaranteed to those that register before September 2nd.  Registrations received on September 2nd thru September 24th are not guaranteed a shirt. Extra shirts are available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.

LIVE MUSIC ON THE COURSE
Live bands and music will be located throughout the courses for both events. 

CORPORATE TEAM COMPETITION
A Corporate Team Competition will take place for the 10 run event and is available ONLY to our corporate partners/sponsors. Typically, these registrations are taken through a corporate registration portal. Contact [email protected] with any questions. 

There will be 3 team categories; Mixed, Male, and Female. Awards will be given to the top scoring team in each category. The best 5 corporate finishers, for each team category, will be designated as that corporation's team. Teams will be ranked by the cumulative time of the 5 best team finishers. Team entries will be accepted until August 15, 2021. Corporate entries will only be accepted online or submitted to the Race Director with prior arrangement.

ALL COMPETITORS FOR A CORPORATE TEAM MUST BE EMPLOYED BY THE COMPANY THEY ARE DECLARING. FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF A COMPANY WILL NOT QUALIFY.

OPEN TEAM COMPETITION
Open team competition will take place for the 10 mile run. An award will be given to the 1st Place Open Team and Runner-up Open Team. An open team will consist of no more than 5 members with the top 4 finishers cumulative time used for scoring. One finisher must be female.  Team entries will be accepted until Sunday September 15, 2022. Open team entries will only be accepted online. Corporate teams cannot compete in both our "open" and "corporate" team competitions. Teams using a "corporate" team name will be disqualified.
