_ The 2022 Kahakuloa Half Marathon and Relays:
One of the most scenic half marathons in the country from start to finish. Experience the epic coastal views of Maui and be one with the Hawaiian culture. End the event at one of the oldest Hawaiian churches on the island, which was built in 1887, and now has been totally renovated after collapsing just a few years ago. The race views are like no other. This is a challenging event, with many hills, but this event is about being one with the views, nature, and onself. This is why many people love this event.
Event details and schedule
The Kahakuloa Half Marathon and Relays, helps benefit the FINAL renovations of the Kahakuloa Congregational Church. One of the oldest churches on Maui. The half marathon starts at Fleming Beach in Kapalua and finishes at the beautiful Hawaiian village of Kahakuloa.
With rolling hills throughout the course and some of the best views on the island, this is truly a great event. Some have compared it to the Big Sur Half Marathon with incredible views of the ocean and more. This race has been on Runners World with regards to scenic marathons in the USA.
The relays are two or four person relays of any combination with each leg going 2.9 to 6.55 miles. There are RELAY TEAM LIMITS. Four Person Relays, Two Person Relays. Athletes on both 2 & 4 person relays will be responsible for transportation to each relay leg zone which will be identified on the course.
2 person relay hand off is at aid station 4, right at the first cattle guard!!
4 person relay hand off zones are at aid stations 2,4,and 6!!
300 Participant Limit for this year!!! Gone up from the past year!!
The race starts at 6:00am on June 4, 2022 at Fleming Beach at Kapalua. The course follows Kahekili Hwy all the way to lovely Kahakuloa town. Dress up and have some fun.

. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PICK UP PACKET ON THIS DAY TO AVOID RACE DAY CHAOS.
-LIMITED TO 300 ENTRIES
-STAGGERED 1 MINUTE STARTS(PER COUNTY OF MAUI)) OF 30 PEOPLE(START TIME MAY BE PUSHED TO 5:30-5:45AM. WE WILL EMAIL YOUR START TIME AHEAD OF TIME BEFORE EVENT.
-RELAYS WILL GO FIRST, THEN INDIVIDUALS AFTER
-ALL RELAYS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION
-PLEASE HAVE MASKS AT FINISH LINE. WE WILL HAVE EXTRA THERE AT THE FINISH LINE.
-FINISH LINE CAN ONLY HAVE A LIMIT OF 25 PEOPLE HANGING AROUND. GET YOUR PHOTOS AND MOVE AWAY AFTER FROM THE FINISH LINE. MASKS MUST BE ON ANYTIME OUTSIDE CAR IN THE VILLAGE. BE RESPECTFUL TO THE COMMUNITY.
-WE WILL HAVE A RECOVERY AREA IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH, WHICH WILL ACCOMODATE FOR 10-20 PEOPLE-PLEASE BE SOCIAL DISTANCE-YOU CAN COOL DOWN AND STRETCH THERE-THEN LEAVE AFTER. MASKS SHOULD BE ON HAND IF NEEDED TO BE WORN.
-FINISHERS WILL GET THEIR MEDAL AND BREAKFAST BENTO, THEN GO TO THE RECOVERY AREA, STRETCH THEN LEAVE. MASKS ON
-LASTLY, WE WILL HAVE A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST WHO WILL BE DOING AN ORIGINAL PORTRAIT OF THE CHURCH, THE DAY OF THE RACE. SO AFTER YOU FINISH, PLEASE CHECK HIM OUT. HE WILL BE PAINTING LIVE, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH ITSELF. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE SMALLER COPIES OF THE CHURCH PORTRAIT, HE CAN MAKE ONE JUST FOR YOU AND MAIL THE ART OUT, POST EVENT.
-AT THIS TIME PARKING AT THE START LINE MAY BE AT THE KAPALUA PRESCHOOL IN THE OLD BALLFIELD OR THE PARKING LOT ADJACENT TO DT FLEMING BEACH PARK.
-PORT A POTTIES WILL BE THERE TO USE AT THE START. WE WILL HAVE HAND SANITIZER AND A LITTLE WASH AREA FOR AFTER.
-WE ARE INCOURAGING ALL INDIVIDUAL HALF MARATHON RUNNERS TO HAVE A PERSON WHO WILL DROP YOU OFF AT THE START AND ALSO PICK YOU UP AT THE FINISH. FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T, TRY TO SEE IF YOU CAN PARTNER UP WITH A ANOTHER PERSON HEADING BACK TO THE START LINE SO YOU CAN GET YOUR CAR. WE WILL HAVE A VAN THAT MAY TAKE ANYONE BACK AS WELL, BUT IT IS THE LAST RESORT AND YOU MUST RESERVE IT AHEAD OF TIME. BUT PLEASE USE THE OTHER OPTIONS FIRST. MASKS MUST BE WORN IN THE VAN IF ASKED BY DRIVER.
-EVERYONE MUST BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLE FULL OF WATER. WE WILL HAVE 4 WATER STATIONS ON THE COURSE THAT YOU CAN REFILL THEM. THERE WILL BE ABOUT 2 MILES A PART. SAG VEHICLE WILL ALSO HAVE SOME WATER. THEY WILL BE ROVING AROUND. A NURSE WILL BE IN THAT VEHICLE.
-TO KEEP THE PARKING AREA AT KAHAKULOA LESS CROWDED, PLEASE LEAVE AFTER YOU ARE DONE, GET YOUR MEDAL, COOL DOWN AND RECEIVE BREAKFAST, SO PLEASE TELL YOUR RIDE WHO'S PICKING YOU UP.
**WE MAY HAVE SOME OTHER INFO AS IT GETS CLOSER TO THE EVENT, SO UNTIL THEM PLEASE PLAN YOUR RACE ACCORDINGLY.
**LASTLY, WE HAVE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF RENOVATIONS LEFT AFTER THESE 3 YEARS OF RENOVATIONS AND COVID DELAYS. THE CHURCH NEEDS HELP WITH THE FLOORING, RENOVATING THE PEWS, AND BUILDING THE CHURCH BELL ENCLOSING OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. TOTAL COSTS IS JUST AROUND $6000. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DONATING TO THESE FINAL RENOVATIONS, PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP. ANYTHING HELPS TO OUR FINAL GOAL.
