Perks for Newington's Food Bank
Help us help the Newington community by supporting a Paper Drive for Newington’s Food Bank.  Bins will be available to collect toilet paper, paper towels, plastic wrap, tin foil and dryer sheets for Newington residents facing financial hardship.  Please give generously.
Special Guest in 2022:
Joining the race this year is Special Guest Bill Rodgers.  Bill is a former Newington resident, a former proud member of the NHS Cross Country team, 4-time winner of both the Boston Marathon and NYC Marathon, the year's top-ranked marathoner in the world three times, and a supporter of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library.  He will be available after the race to sign copies of his book “Marathon Man”.

Perks for 2021 Runners:

Newington Life shared photographs taken at the October 2021 race - you can view them on the Library's race webpage.

A video was taken at the 2021 Finish Line courtesy of the timer - Platt Systems. It runs for almost 14 minutes and can be viewed below.

Virtual Participant Category:
Love the Lucy Robbins Welles Library, but can’t make it to the race?  Do you live out of town? We would love for you to support this event from the comfort of your home!  Simply select the Virtual Participant Option during the registration process.  Running is optional.  We will have an event t-shirt available for you to pick up at the Library during the two weeks after our race.  RUN FOR FREE! Read about our Referral Program incentives after you click the REGISTER button. Fundraising Every year the Board of Trustees and the Library Director do a walk-through of the facility to determine the area of greatest need. Recently, the Board identified various projects for 2022-2023 to be considered and will thoughtfully allocate funds from the race to the selected projects. Since the Trustees do not have an income base, the race is the primary funding vehicle for unrestricted monies that cover significant expenses (i.e., projects) for the Board not covered by the Town’s budget. In the past, proceeds from the race have been spent to refurbish the quiet study area, the teen area, the Lienhard meeting room, the Children’s Department and even for the purchase of land for the eventual Library Expansion. Your secure, online tax-deductible donation to the Lucy Robbins Welles Library will help maintain our treasured institution for many years to come. Please go an extra mile by donating today.
