_ The 2022 Gone Too Soon 5K:

Gone Too Soon 5K

The Gone Too Soon 5K was created in honor of our brother and friend Ernie Carrillo whose life was lost at the young age of 25. We know losing a loved one may be one of the most challenging experiences one can ever go through and our goal for this 5K is to unite the community and tell everyone who has lost a loved one that YOU'RE NOT ALONE. We want to invite YOU to join us and conquer the Gone Too Soon 5K in honor of all of our loved ones who have gone too soon. Let's unite the community, celebrate the lives our of loved ones, support each other, and spread the love! All proceeds will go to the Ernie Carrillo Scholarship Fund that will benefit local high school graduates pursuing a higher education at a trade school, community college, or 4-year university.

Ernie Carrillo Scholarship Fund

Many of us throughout our lives have lost loved ones unexpectedly and quite honestly we do not know how to react. We all deal with the tragic situation in our own manner. The most important factor in all of our struggles is to never forget what our loved ones meant to us and to always live for them. The Ernie Carrillo Scholarship Fund is honoring a loved one of our own, Ernie Carrillo, and we would like to dedicate this scholarship to not only Ernie, but to all of our loved ones that have gone too soon in our community. Ernie Carrillo attended San Pedro High School, Los Angeles Harbor College, and California State University Dominguez Hills. He played baseball at all three institutions and was a dedicated baseball fan of all levels. His love for the game of baseball was expressed through his big heart and big smile. Ernie was a loyal friend and a fun & loving family member. His friends and family would like to honor his legacy through this scholarship and hopefully we can contribute to the future success of an individual in our community. This scholarship is open to all seniors at Mary Star of the Sea High School, Port of Los Angeles High School, and San Pedro High School. This scholarship is for any senior student that is planning on attending any establishment of higher learning, for example: trade schools, community colleges, or universities. This scholarship application should be submitted in an essay format including your name, address, phone number, and email address. The essay length is at your discretion and should include background information about yourself, your future education plans, and your career goals. All scholarship application essays should be emailed to [email protected] by Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 - Please include "Ernie Carrillo Scholarship Application" in the subject line. The scholarship amount is yet to be determined. The winner will be selected and contacted no later than Friday, April 29th, 2022.
